WTB : used Octavia RS TSI147

    Hi All

I am looking to buy a used Octavia RS TSI147 2010 Wagon onwards. Ideally it would have less than 15,000 kms and be either black or white (or even gunmetal grey). I can only see dealer cars on Carsales at the moment and they are starting at 36k on road.

This seems a bit high for second hand?

I have seen people on the forums who have bought black with leather for $34k. I would expect 30-32 without leather right?

Is this realistic? If anybody is looking to sell, please drop me a line or post some pics. I'm sydney based but would go interstate for the right deal

Dealer used cars will have some extra room built in (above and beyond the margin) to allow for negotiation, however of course if you buy privately then you and the seller won't be supporting the dealer and his margin.

If you find that the used market for Octavia RS just isn't big enough, then another option could be to buy a demo and negotiate hard.

They're an amazing value car, hope you find a good deal and don't have to wait too long to find one.

If you are looking with something with that low a mileage unless you can "steal" one from somebody who has to sell you would be far better to go to a dealer and get a deal on a demo.

    Thanks Bluefrog

Was planning on buying a GTI but when I saw your black beast on the forums I quickly changed my mind. Credit to you for a sweet looking ride

I test drove a demonstrator today and was very impressed. Dealer only had the liftback as a demo though but damn was it a nice car. The wife amazed the dealer by opening up on the throttle on the test drive.

I know patience is a virtue but as my last car was a flood write off i really need new wheels. Not many on the market so will have to be patient unless somebody wants to sell quickly

Do you really need a wagon? I have a liftback and you really don't loose that much space, plus the liftback makes it easier to place larger items into the boot. Blue seems to be the only colour available ATM for a decent price. On Carsales there is a dealer manual wagon with about 45000km for 30k on road else a liftback manual with 25000kms for $31900 (been on the market for a few months with a number of price drops). This one also had xenon lights and both front and rear parking sensors. Not sure what transmission you want but manual is much cheaper to maintain, let alone repair.

Yeh the liftback is quite sizeable, I just prefer the flowing look of the wagon. Personal preference only.

It has to be a DSG as the wife loves that gearbox (from our previous GTI). May have to ring all the dealers and see what they can offer by way of demo car. Budget doesn't stretch quite to a new car. Not a fan of blue or silver cars.

I get the sense this wont be either quick or easy but I am determined.

+1 for the wagon choice .. of course

I called every vw dealer in Victoria trying to track down a blue Golf R in manual. If you're really keen and still unable to locate a demo there's always the option of an interstate demo purchase
