Wireless Android Auto on MY16 RS

    Hi,

I have recently changed from iphone to an Android phone.

My new Android phone now supports wireless Android Auto.

Was wondering if it is possible to use to wifi/WLAN functionality on the headunit to connect wirelessly to Android Auto. Would be good to not have to use the USB cable or a dongle.

Have tried but with no success so far.

Does anyone have this working successful on their Mk3 RS?

    Thanks

A dongle is your best bet.
I am using a Motorola ma1; it works well but does drop out going under toll bridges, but I hear that's a problem with all Andriod auto wireless as it uses 5Ghz.

I have heard others using the AAWireless

The MA1 was about $100 on Amazon US.

Really? I've never experienced any dropouts going through toll collection points with my AAWireless dongles in 2 cars. The range from the dongle to the head unit is under a metre in most cars I would think.
RFID tolls are in the 5GHz spectrum range along with 5GHz wifi but they use channels (slices of the available licensed frequency range) and will change channels if there is congestion/interference.
Not an RF expert at all, just never heard of interference from toll collection points.

    +1
i've not had any dropouts, performance or connection issues with my AAWireless dongle for the past 2 plus years.

works seamlessly with the MIB2 Columbus unit in my Superb.
