If you're in SA I believe your rego people are a bit anal about visible light transmittance so you may wish to make some checks that your VLT is legal. ie: legal aftermarket tint plus factory tint may exceed the requirement.

I've got to admit that I've got 20% VLT and wouldn't do it again due to failing night vision in the last 5 years (have had eyes checked several times).

    For your points:
    1) You don't need Cancer Council approval to get 99.9% UV protection in clear (or any) film. It's a marketing thing via the cancer council & doesn't mean you get a better product (eg: a straw hat from the Reject Shop blocks out the same sunlight as a straw hat from the Cancer Council).

    2) I'm not aware of any bread & butter brands that offer different glass as an option.

    3) My B&D garage door opener requires window down as well. My film isn't even metalic. It's been much better since I added more wire to the aerial.

    edit: Found it first go
Hi Brad, that was the information I was looking for. Seems I did need an additional film for daylight driving and UV protection in Summer and I will have to change to a clear film if my night vision deteriorates further.
My optician says I have extremely good vision....for my age.

My combined tint should be legal as the film is a couple of steps back from the 'darkest legal tint'. If I get pinged then Skoda and their film provider will be the first know (who mentioned class action?).

Regarding point 2) You are right, and I don't know what the relative price for it would be. I think Volvo puts it on (some of?) their cars.
Point 3) I'll try that suggestion about extending the aerial

I was looking to get my car done at reflect effect (tint and opti coat). They get good reviews from this forum and others. Let us know how you go, as im driving from Canberra to get my car done.

On the comments about the door opener. Our previous one that was 20yrs old could open while coming down the street. Apparently the new ones have a very short range on purpose so kids/things don't get crushed ie you have to be right in front of it.

My garage door opener works from 3 houses away whilst buried in the tray under the center stack in front of the gear stick. Been caught a couple of times rounding the corner into my street with the door coming down instead of up and my wife wondering why it was coming down when she had just opened it. Luckily she didn't have her car half out.

And that is why they have deliberately made them work from not far away at all.
