yup. i think it may even work in "D".

    1. start engine
    2. turn esp off
    3. shift into triptronic ('+'/'-') or 'sport' mode.
    4. with left foot on brake, apply throttle (don't floor it!) - should only rev upto 2500-3000 rpm.
if u cannot rev past 1200 rpm, u do not have launch control!
    5. foot off the brakes and off u go!!

i haven't tried it yet. we'll, i haven't gone past step 4! was just checking if i had the launch control ability.

Drive it like you own it

    Not like you stole it

Seems that 'bang' following hard launch might prove to be axle shaft, engine mounts and what's left of the radiator once the engine stops bouncing around. Please don't ask me how I know...

The manual (TDI at least) has launch control, too!!...
Try and rev it without turning TC off and you'll see what I mean.

Doesn't seem to exist in my car

I tried it in S, D and triptronic modes - when I rev to over about 1500 it just drops back again - won't rev higher or hold at that RPM.
