What my wife did to my RS today...

Wifey took the Skoda to pick me up from dropping off the polo for a service and she was too busy looking for me whilst parallel parking and scraped the rims on the gutter When I asked her about it, she said she didn't realise it but admitted that she did hear a loud scraping sound when parking Women and cars eh? *sigh* To make things worse, she was driving so close to a truck she narrowly missed hitting the side mirror on the rear corner of the truck too! I guess next time she's behind the wheel, otherwise i'll end up having heart palpitations like today being a passenger. Next time, I'll have to keep my eyes closed to keep me from cringing and thinking "crap crap crap...or sh#t sh#t sh#t". Haven't had such a cardio workout for ages until this morning.

After Kiwi posted about losing parking tickets down the front of the dash and telling my wife about it, she then did it at the Melb Zoo......after we lined up for about 10min to get the ticket in the first place, so lined up for another 20min to get another. It was an absolute bugger to get it out back at home. It flaps like crazy with any air on, and vacuums can't suck nor blow it out, neither can compressed air as its so far down and awkward to get to. In the end I used a balloon stalk from a dead balloon my daughter had and pushed it slowly over to the far side where it curves up to meet the dash.

I had pretty much given up before that worked. Admittedly, this is not so much dumb thing, she does it in our 6 and any other cars we have owned so far. Its a very irritating flaw VAG have caused.

Our 6 has a scrape on two of the rims, my wife proudly tells me that she has never done any, and yet in the last two months there they are. Having said that, tyre guys and the usual service guys have had it and I know sometimes apprentices have scraped other peoples wheels at service centres.

Just to add to it, usually gutter rash isn't so cheap to fix, its a big business for used cars, not really that hard to fix, but hard to not get done over for it or find someone even willing to do a public (non dealer) job.

You'll find a reasonable number of suggestions for this in the Wheels/Suspension area - it happens often enough that most repairers aren't going to knock back public business.

A divorce? Nah a bit too extreme ha ha ha...all is good. Jusgt having a rant that's all. Got one of those maintanence type insurance memberships with the lease so won't cost me anymore than $50 to fix but still annoying nonetheless.

    Depends how bad it is.
I got a BMW wheel done by these guys. He did a fantastic job, you would never pick it and it was less than $100. Obviously being a franchise operation your results may vary but I have recommended my local guy to an Audi owner (not ours) for a rear corner parking scrape and he did an unpickable repair on the plastic on that as well.

I have to admit, the company suggested by K1W1 do a great job.. but i knicked one of my luxons and due to the clearcoat and dual colours they are not patchable, and a overall machining and recoat was nearly the same cost as a new one.. so I bought a new one.
