Checknthe carsales red book guide for rough idea. Also depends on demand as well

G'day everyone
Can you give me some advice please.
I am looking to trade my Octavia on a near new Superb V6 wagon. My kids have turned into basketballers and I need more legroom.
My car is a Spint Yellow vRS manual wagon, late 07 build but late 08 compliance. Has done less than 80,000kms, full dealer service history, has Xenons, sunroof and satnav (options from factory). In great condition overall, usual stone chips, everything works and is present as original.
Dealer realised I had Skoda finance and checked payout, so offered that - way too low. Has now come up to equivalent of about $15k which is still too low.
What do yo think its worth as a trade?
Cheers

Around $20-22k I'd say, but that's just me seeing the ones on Carsales and what not...

I have never ever traded in my old car when buying a new one. You get such more bargaining power on the new one when you tell the dealer you're paying cash, and I've always sold my old car within a week of advertising it online for what I considered way more than I'd get if I traded it in.
So for me, selling the old car privately has always been a win win.
Firstly, I can't really be bothered as i work and travel and have various scommitments. Secondly, I have worked in the trade and usually do very well on the changeover. Its just that there seems to be a big gap between the carsales value and what they are edvertised for on the net.
Eg the carsales value is around $13k as a trade, but the cheapest vRS wagon on carsales is $22,900 and it has 112,000 and not the desirable extras mine has (although a DSG) .
The Superb is very cheap but i still think I ought to be able to get more than $15k on the trade.
BTWm i live in Weston Creek, not on the northside.

That doesn't surprise me. My sister had an Audi A4 and was offered $17k as a trade in by the dealer at a time when the same model and age were going for around $35k on carsales. They decided not to get another Audi and bought an Accord Euro instead.
What it's worth and what you'll get for it are two different things Richard. I based $20-22k on what I've seen on Carsales, but that doesn't mean they will get that (as we all know). In reality, have that many Octavias of that age been sold lately to tell what they're worth and actually selling for? I suppose not enough were bought in the first place...

Try a private sale for $18k, maybe?
I reckon thats probably the best you can do. Unfortunate, but thats how it is.
Definitely planning to keep my Octy until it dies.
