Your car will no longer be roadworthy and therefore your insurance will be null/void. This doesn't apply to certain models of Porsche that come with factory spacers.
It shouldn't affect the wheel bearings unless you go quite thick (more than 10mm) as there are other factory wheels which move the centreline of the wheel further outwards.
Skoda won't see it this way so they will void your warranty on any of the parts in that area (not just the bearings).
You are better off either going to a 235/40r18 tyre or buying a set of lightweight rims in the offset you want.
I have run spacers on other cars. I didn't have any issues. There are plenty of cars out there that run spacers without issue. Ideally if you could attach the spacer to the wheel and there wasn't a hub step nobody would ever know.
