    Warranty Issues

With most members who frequent this section having new Skodas, I am curious as to whether or not anyone has had issues fixed through warranty. If so, could you please list what was going wrong and what was fixed?

I think it would be good to know of issues other owners are having so we, who don't have issues, can look out for those problems arising.

    Cheers

I had my car delivered with two bulges in the headlights, I have never seen nor heard of it anywhere else and my guess is that someone left the lights on with something covering them and they overheated....it almost looked like they had melted where the beam passed through. Was replaced within a few weeks and all good.

I have had a rattle from day 1 which I thought was coming from the Drivers side rear passenger seat belt, but its apparently in the pillar and has never been fixed. They have "looked" at it, but nothing. Also have had a creak in the same spot but rear wheel area when you get in and out of the car. They haven't found that one either. In both cases they can't hear it, but when I show them, they do, but promptly forget.

They've stopped the rubber creaking...but whatever they used made a big smeary mess after a few months that was a nightmare to clean off the door sills. The seals creak on inclines again now.

No major issues in 2.5 years , apart from the door rubbers creaking , that disappeared after first summer .

During winter the air con makes a fluttery sound in the tunnel around the gear shift ever now and then , not worth the worry .

At last service when i had the APR ecu upgrade they advised that i may have an issue with MFD , door lock function delay auto locking , but it all seems normal .

    Top car .

Check the rear seat back latch. I had a similar thing on the near side and I discovered the back of the seat wasn't completely latched into position. I just tipped the seat forward and slammed it back with moderate force and the noise has never happened since.

I too have developed that same squeak, i checked that the seat was latched in and it was. However, i never actually unlatched the seat and relatched it back.
Will try that tonight before the trip home.

The only other thing that annoys me is a little squeak when going over bumps around the passenger door. Sounds like it is coming from the glove box area. I can live with this one and would probably miss it now if it was resolved.

Oil consumption (another thread) has been fine and i have not had to replace any at this stage (still on the full mark) and i have now done over 12,000 kms.

Apart from the niggley bits the car has been great mechanically and at this stage has proved a good choice.

I open that one every now and again, but thats never changed it. I'll try banging it, but from memory when I drove around with the Skoda/Audi tech from Richmond, he opened that as we drove and the noise was still there. He traced it down to the column panel and found if he hit there it stopped for a while....

I had a petrol flap locking hinge and locking mechanism and a ignition switch module fail. It took 2.5 months to get the parts.

The car (MY10 RS DSG wagon) had less than 7000 kms at the time.

My turbo has developed that god awful rattle that many Mark VI GTI owners complain about. It has been checked by the dealer and they claim it's "normal". I personally think thats BS.

The mesh on the drivers seat has also pilled as also reported by some owners.

These issues have taken the shine of an otherwise ok car.

Issues with Columbus Sat Nav - the Columbus unit stopped communicating with the MFD, so no audio or sat nav data was being shown on the MFD. It took 2-3 months for it to be resolved by Skoda, ended up taking a couple of phone calls to both the dealer and Skoda head office to get them to talk to each other and actually sort it out.
