Hi, this is an old thread, but best fit for my question. Have a 2012 90TSI MY13 DSG Octavia Liftback and looking for best option for a boot mat/liner. Can get either a rubber/carpet one for $150 or a plastic preformed one for $135 - both genuine Skoda parts.
Just wanted to hear past experiences with these and which were more appropriate. Bit worried about the rubber smell, but guess one can let it 'air' for a while before installing into car. Thanks!

Only ever had a plastic one in previous cars. A small lip around the edge contains spills. You can hose it off, scrub it if needed to clean it. It scratches up a little over time, eventually greying a little from black. The edges lose perfect shape over time but it was better to have it than not in my experience.

All that said the new car will come with the carpet/rubber option, so we'll see how that goes.

I bought the genuine Skoda rubber mat for my wagon a couple of years ago. The lip on it is not as high as the plastic one, so it allows the side compartment lids to be opened. It cost me about $170 at the time. Not cheap, but it fits perfectly, has holes for the tie down points and is excellent quality - it's as heavy as!

The downside is that you pretty much need to remove it to get to the spare wheel/tools, because it is so thick and heavy, it doesn't roll back out of the way very easily.

I don't recall it smelling too badly, but I did leave it in the sun for a day or two before putting it in the car.

+1 for what Krider said. I got the genuine rubber one and love it. The holes for the tie downs come in handy.

I also bought one of these for our tiggy and I'm very happy with it. They don't have skoda on their main page but you could contact them to see if they can make one up?

Yep another happy rubber mat user here. The plastic ones are too rigid. The new Octavia flips over to become a rubber mat though does it not? So not many sales going to happen for them now.
