    vRS general and specific questions

    Hi guys,

Firstly I realise I'm asking a tonne of questions but I'm very new to Skoda and it's hard to get info that I understand from OS-so I appreciate all your help and hope to contribute more myself as time goes on.

I've got a few questions i hope you can help me with:

    1. My vRS is a MY2010-so is that a mk1 or mk2? I have the 'facelift' version i.e. current model externally but didn't come with standard sat nav etc

    2. What is a vRS combi?

    3. Does the vRS have mkv gti brakes or mk6 gti brakes? Or are the mkv and mkvi brakes the same? basically will mkv gti brakes be a direct replacement for the brakes I have now? I am more interested in the calipers than anything else

    4. Does anyone have a good understanding of what vw gti (assumedly mk6?) parts are interchangeable? Intakes, down pipes/TBE etc as in aftermarket products that might not be specifically listed as Skoda but will fit Skoda?

    5. Does anyone have some suggestions/experience with lowering springs for the vRS (stock dampers)? Been looking for 20 mm but can't seem to find them anywhere, can only find 30mm. If so anyone have any brands, part numbers, places to buy?

That'll do me for a bit I think lol. Once again thanks for your help and info guys in advance, much appreciated

hey Andrew, congats on the new purchase btw

yours is a mk2 .. more info on mk1/mk2 here: Å*koda Octavia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

combi = estate = wagon (at least I think it does )

    brakes - no idea sorry

gti mk6 parts = yes and no, hehe. From what I gather, intakes either fit correctly or with minor adjustments. Down pipes - the only manufacturer that I've found so far that will sell me a TBE right now for the facelift model is Jetex (their UK sales team is very helpful). I'm opting for Milltek however, but am starting with their catback only because their revised DP is not yet released. Sadly although a GTI exhaust appears to be technically the same as an Octavia exhaust, the exhaust paths differ slightly I think.

can't help you much with lowering springs, I went down the coilover path.

are you planning to start up a build thread btw?

    2. as already mentioned "combi" = wagon. "limousine" or sedan = liftback.

    5. i'm getting an eibach pro-kit installed (1 month away) on mine. its the same kit that skoda offers as an option to lower the RS, either from factory or dealer fit. its a 20mm drop on factory shocks.
there is also H&R springs that have a 20mm drop version for the RS -
    - Weitec 20mm Ultra GT Lowering Springs
    - AP 20mm Lowering Springs
few other too. biggest problem - they all r sourced from overseas!! so final prices ain't so forgiving. i'm getting mine done at mob called inline steering & suspension. they tell me they order a few of these kits every month, and dealers grab them quickly. i had a to put a deposit down to secure one!!

Awesome info thanks mate. Think I'll go the eibachs then considering they're the ones Skoda offer. Do you by any chance have a link to the wagon version? I had a look but can't work out which one I need. Are they cheaper if you buy them from the inline place? At 139 pounds is about 210 aud then add delivery prob about 50 bucks is pretty good. And it's a 20mm drop on stock shocks? Cos it says up to 40mm assuming you have different shocks.

    Cheers

yup - 20mm drop. the links also say 20mm front & rear.

    wagon version:- E10-79-004-04-22
    liftback version:- E10-79-004-02-22

delivery will b alot more than 50 bucks mate!!! i was quoted 125 pounds from dpmperfomance.uk, just for shipping to oz. that equates to $198 aud.
so in total u'd b looking at approx. 275 pounds = $437 aud. that's just to land the thing here.
that was also the price inline suspension over here quoted me for supply.
fitting/installation, ur looking another $350-400, on top of the shipping/supply.
