No, coil pack failure has much larger impact and symptoms, you would not be driving it around with coil pack failure.

(Flashing the ECU is done for more power - APR, Recode, etc)

I understand why the ECU is flashed, but is there a way to tell. Not having driven a GTI or VRS before i have no base line for performance.

Will see what the mechanic says, either way i hope its an easy fix

if somebody is driving behind you a black haze from the exhaust, especially during the gear change, is an indication of a tuned/flashed ECU

Otherwise, without a benchmark a stage 1 tune may not be obvious (a stage 2 tune is fairly obvious as it's rather aggressive)

    Ok, so got it fixed.

It was cylinder 3 coil pack.

Drives great now. Andrew at Volkservice was very helpful and fast.

Thanks for all your help guys

Great to hear on both fronts. I swapped my coil packs for the red top ones, going to get some logging done but I suspect my tune doesn't play well with the DSG since it's fine in S mode and when shifting manually...

    Yep, coil packs often go...
And it is usually number 3!

Replace them with Audi R8 coil packs. Much stronger, and more reliable.
