    vRS 19" tyres

SO luck be with me recent rain let a bit of dodgy roadwork slump and i find myself with a damaged front tyre needing replacing. 19" pzero and about 20K with plenty of meat left on the other 3. Looking for suggestions!!
    1. Replace one tyre with pzero
    2. Replace 2 tyres and stick with pzero
    3. Replace 2 tyres and rotate back to front so the old pzero's are up front
    4. Replace 2 tyres, go up from 225 to 235 and rotate new tyres to back.

Any thoughts or guidance? I see the 235 profile is waaay cheaper in various (Goodyear F1, PS4s) and i think wider on the rear would make more sense than wider on the front.
I am happy with the pzero but hoping to get as good/better quiet and mileage versus outright nutter performance tyre options.

    TIA!

"Plenty of meat" with 20K is really vague. Check how much tread there is. if it's under 3mm, chuck it out imo.

I would advise against replacing one tyre only as it throws all the ESP all over the place. Previously owner of my car had a brand new tyre on the front left and semi worn tyres all round and it was a nightmare. Replaced all 4 tyres pronto. Replace a pair minimum and put the new ones on the front. It's a FWD, front tyres will wear out faster than the rears and it does most of the braking.

As for going wider tyres at the back, well, it's a FWD and I've rarely heard of FWD cars having staggered configurations and even if you were to do it, it's actually better to have wider on the front than rear for FWD, as strange as it may sound. I advise using the correct profile for the rims. I assume you are running the OEM 19" XTREM or CRATER rims (7,5J x 19"), then 225 is the recommended. 235 for 7.5" tyres is too wide and I'd worry about tyres flex.

Michelin PS4S are the bee's knees, I've heard. Too bad they don't come in 18", so I've settled for the normal PS4 instead.

Thanks Slugoid appreciate the input. The only reason for looking at 235 is lower cost. The tyres overall have had an easy life so they have enough tread for a while longer but i don't really want to do a single tyre only (and as you point out) have the potential imbalance. If i replace 2 with 225 i'll leave them on the front, but interesting the stagger for wider front. Yes these are the stock xtrem rims.

The Pzero's are notorious for side wall failures (google it) so personally i would never get them again, i had the one of my front go the other month with bulging side wall, i replaced both front tyre's with Falken FK510, cheaper than the F1 & PS4's and more available, they get good reviews and so far i'm happy with them, no issue with road noise and they handle well, i also got the wheels aligned with the hunter machine, the car is only just 12 months but they were well out.

Thanks I’m taking a plunge on PS4s. The Falken do look interesting. The pzeros were ok and while I didn’t have any sidewall issues thankfully I’ve always liked Michelin’s on other cars. Pzero also surprised with the ride and noise, never had the issues I feared when first speccing the 19’s.

The PS4's are an excellent choice.

I had a P Zero bubble on the first day I got it home from the dealer...

I would buy a pair and run them on the front and run your best pair on the rear... Save one good one for a rainy day

Chuck all Pzeros out and go for Michelin PS4

They are being fitted to the new Superbs with 19" wheels and god they grip well.

Yeah I put the ps4s on and kept the one good from the front as a spare. Working to wear those remaining pzero out of the picture. And might be psychosomatic but the tail sucked a little better on the wet rainy roads where I’d normally feel some slippage.
