    Vcds acc

Has anyone successfully used their vcds to enable auto cruise control, continue from stop? Surely this is possible? instead of having it come to a complete stop, then beep and you to put your foot on the brake, i would rather it holds the brake, then takes off again when the car in front does. I was told that the MY17 style does this, so am assuming a vcds mod could enable it in my MY17 ambition.

I think its got something to do with the mechanical handbrake, maybe the radar cruise runs out of vacuum pressure from the brake booster through the ABS system to hold the car stationary at the lights as opposed to Superb/Passat/Tiguan/Golf(?) that have the ability to use the electric handbrake to hold the car stationary. I agree it is frustrating when I'm trying to drive as lazily as possible in traffic and wait for the car to switch off instead of holding my foot on the brake pedal. I don't think the system was designed to be used like 'Traffic Assist' available in Superb that also steers the car at low speed. I believe that the update model due next year will have an electric handbrake to allow this feature (that hasn't been mentioned in any press releases).
It's also risky when the ACC isn't engaged or engine decides to fire up again to charge the battery with your foot off the brake pedal. You definitely can't take it for granted that the engine will stay off.

Yes apparently this has to do with the Octavia using the abs system to hold the car stationary which it's not really designed to do and the electric handbrake maybe what's used in the superb, golf etc
Has anybody managed to find a vcds mod to enable hill hold on the Octavia?

It doesn't do this on my MY17 RS either, so I'd be surprised if it did on the Style. I expect the Electric handbrake hypothesis is the more likely answer here.

I had heard somewhere else that the electric handbrake is required. The ABS pump brings the car to a stop and the handbrake takes over. Something about the ABS pump motor not designed to hold the load for extended periods.
WRT hill hold, the O3 has it as standard, otherwise i know the OBD11 has it as a one touch app. ot is most likely the same as the coding for a Golf7.

It's to do with the handbrake. I really wanted a real handbrake and in hindsight wished they had just put the e brake in and used the space for storage. Haven't looked that closely inside the MY17 pics but maybe it has ditched the lever brake?
