    VAG-COm cable set up process

I bought a cable and installed the software. The first thing it asks to do is test and save the communications port although it does not seem to recognise any available port.

When I plug the cable into the USB port, the Windows "ding" indicates that it recongnises the cable, and the red LED illuminates on the VAG-COM.

Is there any sequence that I should follow such as plug into car, then laptop, then turn on ignition etc?

    Cheers.

I reckon that's in the online manual. Pretty sure you'll get a result by plugging it into the car with the ignition on. Gavin

Cheers, I gave it a quick go today but had to head of shopping. It couldn't pick up a port (and I tried each option) so I thought maybe it is the sequence I plug everything in and turn it all on??

Check the ross tech site for details on loading the drivers.

if i remember correctly - don't start the engine. "ACC/On" is where u need to b.
    so sequence:-
    1. plug vcds cable into car
    2. plug vcds cable into laptop
    3. turn key to 'acc/on'
    4. open vcds software

when the red light on the vcds connector turns green, ur g2g.
i believe that's wat did with mine last time i did some coding.

Ah great, the green LED is a good indicator that I didn't check.

I wasn't sure if I was pushing the plug in far enough as there was no "click" or resistance.
