Nawww... There there, dry your eyes...
Unless your 'good authority' comes through with some sort of service bulletin, I call B.S.

Mine came with Michelin pilot exalto 2s which have been awesome. It depends on the deal they get at the time. PS3s will definitely be the replacements.
It was originally a bit hit and miss I think with some having Continentals and some Dunlops. Mine had Dunlops and I had no real problems with them they were round, black and lasted about the same length of time as the Continentals of the same size that were on our Audi.
When they died I was going to get PS3s but there were none in the country so I got Kumhos, saved over $100 per tyre and I have to say I'm very, very impressed with them so far at around 8000km use. I'll probably buy them again.
I've been tossing up between khumo KU36's (almost a semi slick) or tirerack and get Michelin PS3's.
But with 15K on the conti's they dont show much signs of wear. Odd cause i certainly chuck the car about. I know from experience with my motorbike, I always get good mileage out of tires no matter what the tire. I check pressures once a week and generally use higher pressures most of the time which I think helps.

Nice choice, a mate got some recently on a wrx. Impressive tyre.

Kumho make great road going trackable tyres.

Haven't looked back since fitting our 235 width Michelin PS3's.
I find them quiet, comfortable and grippy.

And much much cheaper in the more common Australian size.
I can't remember when I posted it, but putting the 235s on the standard 18" RS wheels was confirmed via two means for me to violate the ADRs and is not legal anywhere in Aus. Might want to be careful as that's a dead sure way any insurance company will dimiss any claims.
The reason was because the rim was too narrow, the 225s are already stretching it.
