Yeah turns out there is a thin light scratch running half the rim but not sure my wife didn't recently do it so going to leave it. However I took the car for a decent run today to make sure it's all good before handing it over to my parents later in the month (sold it to them) and I'm getting an almighty shuddering on any freeway at 100km/hr. I thought it might just be a stretch of rd but it's was on others as well. Not so noticeable at 80 and not really at all around 60km/hr. I took it home and checked tyre pressures they were all different so evened them up (obviously all hot temps) at around 38psi and took it on a nice bit of freeway. Was still bad at 100km/hr feels like the front left and is almost like the tyre has a lump or somthing, it thumps along, no noise just your arms shaken a lot through the steering wheel. I checked the wheel and it had some new weights on the inside edge but none on the outer. It didn't do this prior to the new tyres and my wife had only recently driven on the same roads the day of fitting with no issues. I wanted to test it yesterday just in case as it would be easier sorting it out with them if something like this happened so annoyed. There are no 100km roads near the tyre place so it's gonna be a pain showing them this let alone getting back there. They did alignment as well but that all feels the same. I don't think the tyres could be the issue, does it sound like balancing is off?

You woukd think balancing woukd be ok, but lately I'm finding I have to double check everything.

They reckon it threw off a weight. Will take it back on Wed and hope its not someone forgot to do something else.....especially if the alignment was setup wrong

Yep - it happens (rarely)

Just make sure they use stick on weights inside the wheel drum
(Not the edge crimp on weights - they are for steel wheels)

They are stick on weights, there is nothing to edge crimp on the old Zenith 18" Hopefully they resolve it. I thought it might have just been the stiffer side walls compared to the factory Michelins which were nice tyres, but there is a definitely rolling/thumping feeling once you hit 100km/hr that isn't there at the lower speeds.

They rechecked the balancing the the front left had thrown a weight, they blame the brake dust on VAG cars but to be honest I wash ours pretty regularly and although its black inside the rim, it rubs off pretty easily. THe car is better but we can feel some minor things at 100km/hr but now not always consistently so I think it might just be the F1 A1s are a bit rougher than our previous Michelins, highly likely the PS3s would have been a bit gentler but with the deal my parents will have to live with them, it was double to get the PS3s as they are pretty much the only tyre without a deal going for them. If i lived near Tempe I would have got them for sure, but we get ripped off in other states.

Drop a couple of PSI out of them.

LOLing at brake dust excuse. They are supposed to clean the rim with buffing fluid (hydrocarbon solvent stuff) before gluing on the weights.

At the last tyre place I worked, all alloy wheels were washed as part of the tyre change. It stopped our machine and fitters getting covered in crap and it made it look like new tyres had been fitted. We also used to dress the tyres with spray'n'wipe. It was one of the many things that differentiated us from the other tyre places and made the customer feel special.

Yeah I dropped the pressure initially when I first noticed the difference in case that was it. I think its just the stiffer sidewalls for lower speed driving they are fine.
