TSI Engine?

Hi all,
Can someone who owns a new Octavia RS confirm that the petrol engine is now the new TSI engine by VAG - with chain driven cams? i.e. so it never requires a timing belt change?

Are you wondering about your own vehicle or generally?

If you just wish to identify your own engine,
the chain drive has a spin-on oil filter at the front left of the engine, up high next to the cam banks, pointing upwards.
the belt drive has a cartridge (an insert inside a re-usable housing) which is at the front, in the middle, down low, pointing downwards.

I haven't received my car yet, dealer just phoned me and said late November... Great.

So I guess I was asking in general because the Skoda Australia website has the engine as TFSI not TSI.

I believe it changed to cam driven cams when they updated the interior on the previous shape.

The owners manual on the Skoda web site only shows TSI or diesel engines.

I have a FL RS wagon, Feb 2010 build, and yes it's the updated TSI (as opposed to FSI) engine, it's chain-driven, IIRC it's not meant to receive attention until about 180,000kms, as opposed to timing belts that often need attention at around 100,000kms.

It will be TSI, lots of things are out of date on the website. Now if only they gave it the same power output as the Gti golf..like the previous RS's had.

the skoda aus website has been showing "TSI" for quite some time now! including their brochures.
definately chain driven too.

If you look at the Skoda website it says 2.0TSI. If you look at the picture of the RS engine it shows the oil filter at the front left just in front of the dipstick (which is at the front & closer to the centre on the TFSI). Also, see how the inlet pipe is seperate & points straight ahead, whereas on the TFSI I believe it's integrated into the engine cover & a slight angle as it exits from the engine cover.
