Yep! The price is for the bar, #4828 ECU protection unit, and installation. You've probably sussed out the ECU protection - what it does and doesn't do - from other threads.

HR blurb on their Smart Click wiring here. You're probably the last person that needs to know how VAG lights work. The ECU protection is fused, so if there's a problem on the bar side of it your cars electronics are safe, and so is your warranty.

I haven't bothered to do anything about the reverse sensor alarm. I don't use the bike rack, or tow that often, and when I do I don't spend that much time reversing for it to be a major hassle.

    Sweet!!
I love it when things are all-inclusive!!

So, just to get this straight, that wiring kit is just PnP?

I'm in I.T., and I did all my own 12v wiring for the camper trailer... But all this Control Unit stuff is just confusing!!

That HR Smart Click page/brochure doesn't tell you if it's a proper electrics kit or bypass type.

Not PnP. Depending on the capabilities of the of the control unit there'll be VCDS coding to do for parking sensor cancellation in reverse, and ESP (so the car knows it's towing when the socket is plugged in). Again, best bet, give Steve a call.

    So... PnP. Then code.

I.E. It works the same as the stock Skoda unit?

True enough, but it does say that each unit is engineered to suit the car it's going onto. Bypass wiring doesn't operate stability controls, and is universal, so why go to the trouble to differentiate between brands of cars? That said, I don't know if they cancel the reverse sensors when hitched to something after VCDS coding. Something I'd be asking about before purchase.

    That's it!

In Australia, depending on the dealer, the HR unit can be the stock Skoda unit. I know where I bought my car from it is.

So, will the 7pin flat kit (as I have) operate stability controls etc when properly coded, or does it need to be the (13 pin?) round euro one with correct wiring on the tralier side - let us know how you go Mysticality!

I have to save up for the drive from NSW up to Maryborough for AJ2013... So the saving for the tow bar will begin after I get back. XD
But definitely. Will try and get pics of all the install steps for you guys.

I daresay its all tow bar lighting kits that operate stability controls etc.
Stability controls, rear parking sensors and some other stuff. If the parking sensors are turned off when you reverse a trailer, then its all connected properly.
