Towbar revisited

RS mkII wagon with towbar prep (according to option codes). What parts, with numbers, do i need? Which harness and from where? Also, Westfalia is/supposed to open in Melbourne... Has this happened? I'll install myself. With the prep, do I need to update the computer or is this a plug'n'play? For a trailor with electric brakes work on the 7 pin? Location of installed harness junction?

i assume you have an MY12 or newer to have the tow prep?

You will have to VCDS the car or take it to a dealer for coding.

As for the second post, FWIW i installed my towbar on my MK3 Scout, (later model) not difficult.

Ive done one my fair share of work on cars, water treatment plants, nuclear power plants, anything mechanical. In the scheme of things.... Not too difficult I'd imagine.

So I'm still hoping that someone can point me to the parts code and supplier for a harness, any info on the Melbourne Westfalia branch, and if anyone knows if the 7 pin connector will supply power for trailer electric brakes... If not then what wiring needs to occure. Thank you

What needs to be removed to access the canbus junction? I know the rear bumper has to come off. WhAt else? And where is the canbus junction located? As stated my RS has factory tow bar prep

I've finally got the tow bar and canbus harness ordered through a local garage.

AFAIK its the red plug to the left of the boot, behind the trim. probably taped up somewhere.

what towbar are you getting and is it a genuine harness? can i ask how much?
