Things I'd like to improve on my Skoda:

    Overall I have found this forum to be one of the positive that I have seen but there is always a cloud so I thought I'd start this thread to see what little (or big) things annoy Skoda owners. This thread is not about missing options or things that can't be changed but it's about the things that become noticeable or annoying after a period of ownership. Here is my list;

    • The steering column being off centre from the instrument binnacle.
    • The asymmetric inside front door handles where the left and right side are different.
    • The gaps between the front door trim and the dash are larger and more irregular than I would expect from a 21st century vehicle.
    • The relatively sloppy (manual) gearbox. Our Audi has a much more positive gear change and I'm sure the different linkages is a marketing decision rather than a cost decision.
    • Could do with a little bit more attention in the NVH area.

As you can see my list is minor and it's fair to assume that in the areas of performance, handling, comfort, fuel economy, space and general ambiance I'm very happy. I'd be interested to see other peoples lists.

that my TSI is not an RS!

rear seats could be softer/more comfortable.
seat fabric appears it could wear quite fast

    Cool

Yes NVH bit noisy from the rear , could do witha bit more sound proofing , RS is a bit roudy .

Gear shift , no , absolute delight , i have owned several VW and HONDA manuals ,and this is on a par , no complaints .

As to the others , i must be blind , never noticed any of those issues , i just love the drive , then again for $40k the RS is never going to be an audi , audi with this performance try $60k .

    Value for money spot on

DSG getting all confused and sluggish at low speeds.

    Apart from that...nothing!

I LOVE my RS, but every car isn't perfect. On my list of negatives are:

    - Abit more standard equipment for the money (I know Aus-spec cars are very highly equipped, but I'd like the 12-speaker sound system from NZ-spec cars, even as an option and also two rear hooks and a cargo net - like the Elegance hatch/wagon and RS wagon get)
    - A rear wiper! Coming from a wagon I really miss this feature, especially considering how large the rear screen is. I know you can option this in the new one however.
    - The lower cabin plastics look good, but are bloody scratchy
    - How much more modern the facelifted models are in the cabin
    - Rear cupholders!!!!
    - Full-size alloy spare would be nice
    - Much more aggression in the styling (which the new one fixes)

Having said that, the rest of the car is fabulous, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

-I find the gearbox quite nice, both our Mazdas before it had very notchy gearboxes. The 6 was painful to change gears in until about 15,000kms.
-I still find it weird that the electric seats were missing from the RS
-The loss of the cargo net in the RS hatch compared to the other models, weird really
-The assymetric handles are pretty normal, its been the same in every car I've had the last 8 yrs. What I like is that the driver gets a grab handle.
-Missing steering controls on manuals, they were in the 1.8T but not the TS....and the plastic bits where they clearly go where there.
-The rear wiper was always weird it was missing
-I thought we had rear cupholders in the ski hatch bit, but must have been confused with the 6. Why they aren't there is weird.

Some of these were fixed with the new update though.

    Gripes

The seats are a bit too flat for my liking. And sometimes visibility when I look around a front pillar is not ideal. Also, aircon is a bit noisy when switched on while the car is hot.

I found gearbox quite fast, reliable and overall pretty good. But then, my previous car was ... Mazda Bravo and before then ... dont wanna even mention it. Love diesel torque and economy, this was the main selling point for me.

    a few things
    - directional bi-xenons should be standard on an RS
    - self tilting/folding side mirrors should be standard on an RS
    - better sound proofing would be appreciated
    - flat floor space when seats folded down on the wagon would be nice
    - full size spare
    - moonroof option would be nice (find the current sunroof too small)

overall very happy with the car though - about to tick over 6,000 km's

My intention with this thread was for people to post things that they have discovered during actual driving, the way something works or doesn't work, fit and finish issues, that sort of thing. Items like sunroofs and lights and folding mirrors fall into the option area and are decisions that people make prior to purchase so imo they don't really fit into the intention of this thread.

Rain sensing wipers coming on when the screen is dry annoys me.
Not knowing if the rain sensing wipers are on automatic without moving the stalk up or down causing the wipers to wipe a dry screen annoys me. I wish it had a light or something to indicate they are on auto.
The ride is very harsh on rough country roads, you know when you have hit a pothole! But bought the rs so expect it. Great thread btw
