But hey, that's just me and my opinion. By all means carry on and i'll go mind my own biz!
Hence I kept my list to things to things that could improve my RS rather than little things (such as mp3 mixing, sensitive wipers, etc) - I was well aware of every 'flaw' that I listed (including road noise/small sunroof) when I purchased the vehicle and was happy to do so (and am happy with the decision)

Transporter - cars that I've driven before - ford mondeo (the original model that replaced the telstar), accord (around 94 model), BMW 318 (2000 model), BMW X3 (2007). All have been 'family' cars though and the rs is the first car that I could call my 'own'

I suppose my Skoda is better than yours? Nya nya ni nya nya
    I'm glad you are happy

I would have looked at the Superb if it had been available when I purchased my Octy, but I strongly suspect I still would have gone for the extra performance and sportiness of the vRS anyway.

IIRC the Laurent & Klement model of the Octavia has all the goodies and more besides, so Skoda can put them into an Octy, they just chose to leave them out of the models they bring to Oz.

Maybe it is just to help the Superb owners feel all smug and superior

Well at least we vRS owners got things like the Maxidot display, heated seats, auto lights and wipers, rear sensors and a spare wheel which the poor Poms have to pay for as optional extras.

The big display between the speed on tach that shows fuel consumption, average speed, temperature and all that stuff. The UK cars come standard with just a basic display that has the odometers and not much else.

Having said how much better equipped Aus-spec models are than UK-spec models, we still pay Ł4,000 more (Aus TSI manual hatch is $37,490 which equals about Ł22,700) as a base price, so you could probably option all the equipment holes and it'd be equivalent. Get me an NZ-spec RS please

Not having had the opportunity to drive the new Skoda much (my wife has had one trip to Sydney and another to the Blue Mountains), I love the car but here's my list:

    - I love having a footrest for my right foot (it is a footrest isn't it) but it doesn't feel like its at the same level as the left footrest,
    - DSG is great except when it quickly changes all the way to 4th when going through a roundabout. I really want third to give a bit of acceleration out of roundabout. And it's too difficult to flip the paddle and change down when steering through the curves.

There's too many things on this car that I really like, but I've found a couple of small annoyances...

    1. When it is raining hard and you open the boot on the liftback too quickly, the water runs and drips inside the car at the side near the rear seats.
    2. The water spray on the rear wiper is a bit useless. (Have not investigated this further as yet)

However, that is offset by the lack of requirements of having the liftback boot opened in the rain, and requiring the water spray when using the rear wiper (as there's usually rain water)

I do love the size of the boot, the seating position, the driving capabilities of the car, and finding out that a full size 18in wheel can fit in the space in the boot where the steelie is... Only have to find 1 18in Neptune cheap now..

Edit: And the insurance quote on my new Octavia RS is cheaper than the quote I got for my 3 year old GTI...

The main thing I complain about is the damn auto headlights. I can't see why they have to turn on during sunshine filled days. I've complained about them when I have had it serviced, but they reckon they can't find anything wrong with them. Of course they work fine when in the workshop! As my cars warranty is almost up, I really want this fixed. My last car was a VX Berlina and the auto lights in that worked flawlessly.
Other little things-the not so good sound deadening, the floor not being flat when the rear seats are folded, the no radio controls on the steering wheel, the no electric seats-this is all stuff I knew when I bought the car. I'm not in the slightest bit fussed about the space saver spare-it's at least a full sized tyre and not one of those skinny things that some cars have. I have no problems with the auto wipers either-in fact I love them. I love the way they change speeds automatically depending on the rain-great stuff.
I've had the car for 16 1/2 months and 44000km now and (headlights aside) still love it!

I can't understand how mine work either. Driving straight into the afternoon sun on a cloudless day and the headlights come on. I have no idea why.
