infact i quite prefer D(auto) over Sports or Manual modes. The take offs r good. the engine braking is helpful, making it a clean & smooth stop.
sports mode i never use cause its too much screaming.
manual mode i use with many roundabouts or twisty roads

I'm jealous then. I guess mine is just 'different' to some. I do completely ignore S mode because it thinks that 6000rpm in first is good.
But mine exhibits none of the goodness you have. My take up can feel like a weak clutch and if you tip a touch too much throttle into it, it feels like you've been hit from behind. The engine braking is one thing that really annoys me - I honed the art of hell-and-toe over the years in all my manual cars, and it don't feel that the engine braking gives me a smooth slow down.
Maybe I will get them to look at its when first service comes around, but IMHO, I find the gearbox somewhat dissapointing. But I have questioned in my own head if I simply miss 3 pedals, full stop.
