Thanks for the info!
Does anyone know a place in Sydney (perhaps south) that would be good at sorting this issue out?
2018 Ralyee Green RS wagon. Fully optioned.
Previous vehicles:2015 Volvo V60 Polestar (my one detour from VW/Skoda!)
2013 Platin grey RS wagon / 2012 White Polo GTI / 2009 Black 125 Tiguan
Which engines are direct injection? I have a brand spanking new petrol RS, but just sold my 2008 TFSI to my parents so will hear about it, if it ends up getting choked up. It's at 72k at the moment.
Hi all,
Just registered quickly so I could chime in a bit with the intake manifold vane/valve cleaning. It's a bit of a pig of a job, but I managed with only the essentials and very little experience. I did do A LOT of homework first so thankfully most of it was familiar to me as I went through the task. I did underestimate the effort needed, so in the end it took me 3 days to get it all out, cleaned and it all reassembled. I need to reiterate though - from an automotive technician's perspective, I am a total novice, so it take stronger DIY'ers less time.
Here's my after action hints and tips thread, over at Briskoda:
Replacing Intake Manifold and Removing Carbon Buildup - 2.0TSI - Skoda Octavia Technical Guides - BRISKODA
My car was at 69k miles when I did it, and well, let the before and after images of the valves speak for themselves...
I was quoted £600 best case to have it done professionally. I sourced the intake from the US (£130 posted with Tax, as opposed to £330 buying here in the UK directly) and did it myself. Cost me about £250 in total once I bought injector seal kits, carbcleaner, canned air, random tools I didn't have etc.
