No that is normal (or at least mine does not have one either). I guess it is one of the miriad of cost saving measures to keep the car competitive. Refer to the sound proofing sticky for another example.
Hey all, I have noticed that my RS doesnt have any sort of heat shroud or sound proofing panel under the bonnet as did my Tiguan.
Is this normal, or is it missing?
Thanks

I recall reading somewhere on this forum a while back someone ordering one as a spare part?
It's interesting watching the steam come off the bonnet when stuck in traffic during a light shower of rain - I was a little disconcerted the first time I saw it! I've considered ordering one, even if it's to deaden the horrible 'clang' the bonnet makes when shutting it! If I have one criticism of the Octavia, it's the lack of body panel deadening, I'm amazed at the number of 'tinny' sounding spots on the car, far more than my wife's '03 poverty pack Corolla.
I guess the only positive thing is that at least it will cool better by not having the heat trapped under the bonnet as much??

Actually they used to come with it, but apparently people complained that the engine was too quiet in the RS so Skoda removed it. They leave it on in the diesels as people don't really want to hear a tractor. It was some years ago it happened, from memory 2007. They aren't overly expensive.
From memory the 118TSIs etc still had them, it was just the sportiness of the RS that they tried to improve rather than purely costsaving.
oh ok Woofy...sounds reasonable.
I guess the lack of throaty sound is one of the only downsides of the RS compared to the GTI...so anything to help that I s'pose...
