Skoda reliabilty in spite of VW involvement

I keep reading reviews of Sodas where the reviewer ends by questioning the reliability of the brand and many keyboard warriors are quick to jump on them too. Yet, I hear of very few problems here - certainly none more than any other brand to warrant a mention that no other manufacturer gets (VW rarely get that treatment and they are the cause of the perception!). It comes down to very few people have done more than kick the tyres of a modern Skoda, so unless they work in a Skoda workshop, they are talking out their a***. But that's the Internet for you....

Got to agree with that last comment.

The last Octavia used car review I read, the journalist stated that because it has VW parts, it will suffer the same reliability issues.

And that was after an admission that here wasn't a history of complaints from owners.
His assumption here was that there weren't enough owners to complain.

Yet people are basing their used car purchasing decisions on opinions from ignoramus' like that one.

I own a Polo GTI and an Octavia VRS. I have access to holden caprice's and a number of VW's at work ranging from Passat's to Touregs and the most reliable car of all of them is my Skoda. I purchased it new in 2010 and have racked up 100000km without a fault and still tight as a drum.
