    Skoda Octavia RS Exhaust Mod

    Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've had my TSI RS for over a year now and am now getting the modification itch... I feel the only thing the RS really lacks is a nice exhaust note, so I'm looking at getting a new cat-back 'zorst. Hoping it'll get rid of that resonance at ~3000rpm too (as discussed in another thread).

I've had a look at Milltek, APR and Jetex - does anyone have any experience with these? Recommended dealers? I have a fairly limited budget (<$1000) Any installation difficulties? I have access to a hoist and want to install it myself...

    Cheers,

    Rob

I don't know if something changed with the last update of engines in the current RS, but my pre facelift doesn't have any rasp or rattle and definitely no droning, it does have the growl and I know from changing exhausts before, its really hard to get a nice exhaust note without the drone.....Mx-5s always seem to have it right....and I've been really happy with my RS.

My Pre-FL 12/2007 Wagon never made anything other than a wonderfully rich exhaust note.. never sounded tinny, and a few GTI owners i passed wished their GTI sounded as good.

It's not that it sounds bad. It's more that it just sounds a bit, well, nothing... And I'm big on exhaust changes - completely changed the character of my bike - Honda VTR250 Madaz exhaust

I've found an Invidia on superskoda.com, but it has a strange path, out under the center of the car - has anyone purchased this one? I'm also a bit hesitant about superskoda after reading a few things about them and how slowly they reply to my emails...

speak to Arthur @ Exoticars in North Parramatta (Exoticars) in Sydney and he will be able to help you with a very nice custom exhaust

otherwise Lucas from GIAC down in Melbourne also has some great hookups.

friend vince got a DP, Intake and the GIAC Chip and was over 160 @ the front wheels. He didnt want sound however so didnt opt for a full exhaust! .. machine of a car!

If it's anything like the GTI, seems the first resonator around the back wheels is the noise limiter, with the big rear pancake not doing all that much really. Might be a lot cheaper to look at replacing the resonator with a hotdog, 42 draft designs have inexpensive resonator deletes for the VW platforms along these lines, and you can listen to soundclips, on the GTI at least....perhaps something to check out on their website, I haven't seen this option before.

Might be something to consider as a first step before trying to source a cat back.

I'm looking at getting a new catback. I was going to get a Milltek system but have been put off by the clamp on tips and reviews of how quiet it is.
You guys still happy with the Jetex and is it a definite improvement in sound over stock?
    Cheers.

Definitely still happy with mine. The sound has settled down after a few weeks and is ever so slightly slightly quieter (which is a good thing IMO). Much better than the stock system, where one of my mates described my car as sounding like a hybrid, "whenever you used to drive up, your car just made this humm sound, now it has some balls."

EDIT: The price for the exhaust included shipping. All up was $899.00.
