    Skoda Octavia Extended Warranty

Just wondering if anyone has taken up extended warranty on their Octy. I currently have a pretty decent deal lined up on my 08 Octavia Elegance 6spd 2.0TDi (purchased in 09) but I'm in two minds about going through with it. I've taken it back a few times under warranty - Air conditioning issue, badges peeling and the hand brake plastic cover snapping off. Other then that its been a great car.

I plan to keep it for a few more years and she currently has 65k on the clock. Is extended warranty worth it? Have any owners with high km examples found many issues with their car?

$1600 for 3 years, extra 75k. Have you had any issues with yours thus far?

It used to be about $800 for another 2 yrs, they upped it to that amount so I decided that odds of needing to pay $1600 in repairs in a manual would be pretty unlikely compared to the surety of actually paying it. We intend to keep ours at least another 3 yrs and it will be 4 yrs old Nov this year.

hmm it is starting to get exxy but almost compulsory for me as have DSG. I haven't had any major issues. One I do need to get looked at is the rear passenger door doesn't always open when I press key fob, rare but happens. Other than this touch wood it's been great although only got 33k on it.

I just bought extended manufacturers insurance for an additional 3 years up to 200,000km, through AVEA. Basically any issues you just take it to the dealer, dealer calls their phone number, repair gets approved and the dealer completes. Was about $1100 + GST from memory.

    Just a word of caution.

What you are buying (even when you do it when you buy a new car) is an insurance policy from a third party that "promises" to follow the manufacturer's warranty. It is not the same as the manufacturer changing it from a 3 year to a 6 year warranty.

Certainly look into it, but make sure you fully read and understand all the implications of the exclusions. You might find that what you are looking to over is actually excluded.

Yes, I would ask them, if it's the same warranty as is on a new car, basically just the continuing of the new car warranty.

The PDS with AVEA essentially states that you must follow the exact same guidelines for maintaining the original new car warranty i.e. following service schedule. Everything is covered, or not covered, as per the original manufacturers warranty. Pretty good I reckon.

I'm currently on my 4th Body Control Module ($800 each)... I'd go with extended warranty.
    7 months, 25,000km.
Apart from that, absolutely no dramas. But $800 is a fair chunk of change.
