Two Skoda dealers in GWS also - Blacktown (Trivett) and Penrith (Nepean), so people can actually get to one if they're interested as well. I agree that the demographic for the new team will be average middle class, possibly higher income, and that the market is a good one.

And the Subaru link is an interesting one too - ex-Outback owner here.... (but won't switch from occasional support of the Swans! )

The details of the deal are...

    3 years sponsorship.
    $1.5 million a year.
Naming rights for the stadium to "Skoda Stadium".

Interestingly, this sponsorship is 35% more than the deal done for the Gold Coast Suns (the other new AFL team). I actually thought when I originally saw it that maybe Skoda got a discount. Seems they paid a premium.

Faaaaaaarkn hell, now that's having a serious stab at it. All they need to do is ensure the ads they put on TV during the games appeal to this type of audience. What I mean is this audience want something shirt sharp and enticing to draw them, having the 90 reasons rubbish ad in any form would just be a waste of what is potential going to be a huge deal for them.

Check out the Fabia VRS ad on you tube, if they could do something like that for the Octy RS (oz version) I think that would draw some ecitement.

Really good news though, it shows the marketing team have realized they were on the wrong path and are now shifting in the right direction

I think that's the clincher for them - its a new team and consequently will generate a LOT of publicity/interest - not just in western sydney but throughout the entire AFL community.

That's not too bad. Hyundai's current deal with Carlton is just about to end and was around $1.6M per year. Although that's for half a jumper, with Mars picking up the other half, so to speak. Hyundai have extended their deal with Carlton, but for less money and they will now only appear on the back of the jumpers, with Mars always on the front (they used to alternate each week).

I think its great news. Shows Skoda is serious in growing beyond a tiny niche player. All thats got to happen now is to improve delivery lead times....

No worse than Ford Mondeo. Volumes appear no different either.

Don't forget that the GWS team will not be in the AFL until the 2012 season so if it's 3 years from now the first 18 months is before the senior team even play a competitive game other than probably two pre season matches at their home ground on one day in February next year.

Still, surely there'll be local promotion and at least some national interest in the new team. And it will cost less than it would if they were playing.

I was looking at the team roster earlier and a bit surpised that the average age of current signings is 17.5......
