i got speaking to a general manager of a big dealership at a bbq last week and he suggested that whilst VW sales are strong they won't be agressive with Skoda sales/pricing. Skoda are basically their launching pad (back up) should VW sales cool off. certainly seems Skoda will be here for long haul.
bigger discounting = bigger depreciation for early adopters so Im happy they keep prices up.

A mention of disasterous Octavia sales in the SMH/The Age on Saturday. Only 1000 units in 2012 with supposedly only 25 so far in January. The press are very hot on the Skoda is a looser theme at the moment.
