I can reset you service reminder with Autologic, which doesn't have such limitation and can do the Skoda software updates as well.
Hi Guys,
Long time lurker who has at last decided to join in.
I've had my Octavia TDI Wagon for almost 4 years.
Most of its life I have taken it to the local VW dealer for service, friendly and couldn't be more helpful.
Car went in for service today and when I got back to pick it up they told me they couldn't reset the service reminder any more as VW has updated the software and their equipment now won't talk to anything else but VW.
I couldn't believe it so I sent an E-Mail to Skoda and they confirmed they now restrict there bands to specific dealers. This makes no sense to me.
I was considering an upgarde next year but if I can't get it service where I want then it won't be a Skoda.
Has anybody else had this happen?
Sad
Mark

It doesn't matter as long as you book your car in 1 week ahead.

You only need the fancy scan tools if you are on variable service.
If you are on fixed (15,000km/365days) interval then it's just a sequence with the trip indicator reset button. I'd tell you the process but it's in my service book at work. Will look tomorrow

It's more to the service than just resetting the service reminder. Though, I'm surprised that the VW trained mechanics at the dealerships can't do manual SRI reset on the VAG car.
"It's kind of asking the question, what actually those nowdays factory trained technicians know about our cars?"
The receptionist there should be able to do it.

When Skoda started and the dealer network was virtually non existent they had deals with VW dealers for servicing in areas where there was no Skoda sales dealer. I guess that as the sales network is growing they are removing the servicing deals with VW dealers. It makes sense looking at it from their point of view.

I reset mine by pressing and holding the "OK" button whilst viewing the service indicator in "vehicle status."
