    Servicing costs

    Hi guys.

Just had my 30k service on my Octavia RS TSI. i was surprised at $557 through Peter Warren. How does everyone compare with standard 15k regular book work?
In hindsight i should check with other service centres, but I'm interested to hear from others who service in Sydney.
Appreciate if other owners could share their costs and places they service with.
    Thanks in advance.

They should all be the same now with the fixed costs. Before it was up to the dealer, mine used to be really good and charge less as well. Then they were sold and the new owners jacked up the cost by 50%. The fixed pricing has actually now caused them to drop prices. I know Skoda in Geelong had the best rates of all, but with fixed price servicing they will be charging more whether they want to or not.

The 30k service is a major so as bad as it gets really, if it was 2 yrs they would/should have also changed the brake fluid but that is extra.

How old's the car? That's the price from the Skoda site including pollen filter and brake fluid that get done at 2 years.

When I bought my vRS I asked for the service sheet, each 15k service was $500~$600
    It's the 60k service that's a major $1,200 due to the DSG
These prices are terrible for sure, but in line with dealer servicing (cash cow), Mazda six monthly services are $500~$600

Yep I had a Mazda 6 for the same period, both cars were manual and the 6 cost more overall in the same time period. It was a well regarded Mazda dealer that wasn't as expensive as others as well (I know as I used another dealer for our other Mazda and they would be easily another $200 more for the same service). If you want to see some hideous servicing costs, try owning a Hyundai.....then compare the identical parts for them vs the same part at Kia.

Might pay to find yourself a good independent Euro mechanic and stop paying dealership prices. In Sydney, you have several to choose from depending on where about's you are located (City, North, South, East, West etc)

What does your paperwork say they did?

30k should just be the service and if you've got 2 years up, a pollen filter.

I bet they charged you for a brake fluid flush even though the first flush isn't due until 3 years (and every 2 years after that).

Did they also charge you for those great profit makers like "fuel system cleaner", "air conditioning deodoriser" and "engine flush"?

    Servicing costs

They did a couple of extra things, but no breakdown on costs. These were the pollen filter, and a De-glaze on the front discs due to squeaking at low speed turns. I'll definitely hunt around next Time. I'd suggest others avoid Warrick farm unless they like Bill shock

The pollen filter, although only $40, will have a labour charge attached to it at 0.3hrs x whatever the labour rate is, plus however long it took to de-glaze the discs.
