I'm considering buying a Skoda but being in WA there are 2 dealers I know off and very far from where I live.
Is it possible to have services and any warranty work done at VW dealerships?

Many VW (or Audi) dealers won't do work on Skodas apparently because they say they don't have Skoda specific diagnostic equipment or parts.
My suggestion would be to ask either Skoda Australia or the local VW dealers directly before you make the buying decision. The map on the Skoda website shows 4 dealers or service dealers in WA but they are all in the sw corner.
i've asked local Audi & VW dealers if they could do service work & both told me they couldn't access the software side of the vehicle. Neither were particularly enthusiastic about doing a Skoda & priced the service accordingly. Also, at the time, none were familiar with the engine in my vehicle (but VW & Audi have since taken on that engine).
I've recently needed some warranty work & asked Skoda HQ if I could get it done at my local VW dealer (3km from work) rather than drive 45km from work, waste a flex day etc & they simply weren't interested in facilitating warranty work outside of a dedicated Skoda workshop.
OTOH, one of the other forum members had work done at an Audi dealership in Newcastle IIRC.
edit: If you do get any promises made by VW/Skoda, get it in writing.

I actually had a service last week at Skoda Richmond here where they actually did put on a software update. Apparently it was out all last year but wasn't done same time last year, and the answer as to why not was they didn't know (also before Zagames took over). Makes you wonder whether they even hook up the software at times. I also drove away last time only to have my tyre pressure warning go off as they had changed the tyre pressures but forgot to reset that.

Got my first (annual as it turns out I'm doing about 15k a year) service done at Golfwagen Wangara. Skoda services are cheap(er), but at Golfwagen it was cheaper again. But it wasn't really the price to got me through the door, it was the plentifull comments around about their great customer service.
As for Warranty, well, I knew I didn't have problems, so I wasn't worried.
Turns out I did have a small issue with my canbus ... but they fixed that anyway!

They say they aren't allowed and don't get to claim it back from Skoda.
They can do the servicing, but anything outside the normal service can't be done as warranty work.
They said they were wanting to get a Skoda dealership though, I hope they do.
