My Golf R is much quicker to transition power to the rear without any noticeable extra understeer. Maybe the higher (and at the moment) pretty worn suspension is a contributor as well.

Are you happy with the FSD Koni shocks?

Sorry, I must not have had the notification of reply to this thread turned on.

Got the Haldex controller direct from HPA when the dollar was stronger and they had a sale. Can't remember the exact price, but it was better than now however still a pricey item. Occasionally they announce a sale on their Facebook page.

Koni FSD shocks, again pretty expensive, but they seem to do what it says on the tin. Nice and comfy on a good road, but able to handle sporty driving. I have added the anti roll bars and 18" wheels and various bushes and things so hard to pick what's done what. My car is standard height (but 4x4). Not sure if you can get FSD shocks for the Scout. Sports shocks on a Scout seem a little contrary to the point of the car though?

Because this is my 'nice' car I tend not to drive it in anger, so it's probably a waste having the controller on it. I kid myself I can pick the difference on sealed roads and can certainly on dirt (that's fun). It's like woo hoo, I'm an Audi Quattro rally driver flicking up stuff from all four wheels!

Thanks. The Koni site says that they make FSD's for the Scout. I was looking at them at Demon Tweeks. They were down to $772.00 plus postage on a recent sale and since Brexit the UK pound has fallen. You are right that it seems a little Irish to try and turn a Scout into a performance vehicle but I like to go quickly through corners as these days there are too many flash for cash sites around to go fast in a straight line.

I mostly got the Scout because its diesel, has the 4 motion and the extra clearance compared to my Golf R. The work that I do means I often have to drive on gravel roads and up steep rough driveways. I have been tossing up whether to get some coilovers to drop it a bit but still be pretty high in comparison or just get better shocks and leave it where it is. I've always gone for the Koni yellows in the past and I am still considering them as well.

Since I put the 18's on it definitely grips better but actually it seems to have lost a bit of handling finesse. I think it might be because the 18's are so much heavier that it has affected the unsprung weight balance. I bought this thing on a whim and I got it fairly cheap with the idea of not spending too much on it. Trouble is I have ended up liking it a lot and I have to try to stop myself from spending money on it.

At the moment I'm trying to find the money for a VCDS cable now that Gavin has headed south. I'm hoping for a second hand one but they are pretty rare.

Well the Scout has covered around 18,000 relatively trouble free kilometres. I have to say that I am still enjoying the old bugger. My wife likes it too and is often taking it. She took it on recent weekend trip to Bundaberg and covered about 800 k's. I finally got around to fixing one more of the things that annoyed me when lifting the bonnet.

Did you get it from SuperSkoda? How easy was the installation?

I found it on EBay. It was a 10 minute job. No drilling or painting required, unless you don't like the look of the black brackets. You just need a 10 ml and 12 ml I think it was spanner. You just remove the existing bolts, put the supplied brackets in place and replace the existing bolts. Then you just click on the strut. Actually the instructions said to put the strut the other way around.

It really annoyed me not having the strut, particularly because the plastic piece that the original support arm was supposed to plug into was missing.

Thanks. Do you mind sharing the eBay link for it? Cheers mate.

Installation kit hood damper For Skoda Octavia II (A5 2004-2012)

Hopefully the link will work. If not, pm me your email and I will try and send it to you. It was a real pain in the proverbial to get it. In the ad they say they don't post to Australia so I got it sent to Singapore because I was going there for a week in June. Only problem was that it didn't arrive there until August. Luckily my friend at the address in Singapore was able to forward it. I was talking to the guy through EBay because it took months rather than weeks to arrive in Singapore. He actually told us to put in a dispute because it hadn't arrived. After we put in the dispute it subsequently arrived.

As it was all happening and it looked like the first one had gone missing I told him I would buy another one and he then agreed he would send the second one to Australia. A long story to explain that you may be able to get him to send it to Australia.

Didn't realised it was meant for the MK2 - nonetheless I shall check with the seller. Thanks heaps!
