So am I reading this correctly...
Skoda are releasing a new Octy (Scout) next year?
I am looking for something to replace my family wagon, a Subaru Forester, and this would be high on the list.
Anybody got any further details?
cheers

It's a new Scout but not neccessarily an Octavia. Dealer could tell me nothing but a name.

I would have though that the launch of a new Octy would happen before a new Octy Scout, unless it's just rebranding.
There have been pics of a Superb Scout testing as recently as Feb this year (which I'd missed, having seen the earlier ones), which lends support to my Octy Scout5 and Superb Scout7 comment above.

I'd definitely like to see a Superb Scout - no need for 7 seats for me though.

I'm not sure where the market for a Superb Scout would be in Australia. In Europe with areas of heavy snow fall maybe but here? They already have the Superb AWD which is just a closer to the ground Scout anyway and more suited to Australian conditions of long distance travel I would have throught. Surely nobody at Skoda Australia thinks they are going to sell Superb Scouts to hoards of people who want to drive through the tracks of the Simpson Desert. Please tell me they aren't thinking that way.
The station wagon style seven seater has been well and truly surpassed by the Territory/Outlander/Captiva/Kluger style vehicle so I can't see a seven seat Superb in either 2WD or AWD being a big seller anyway as all you ever do with those things is have extremely restricted space in the back row with little or no luggage space after you have loaded all 7 people in.
I'd love to see a new Octavia based (in size at least) Scout. It was the Skoda I first went to buy and I have more or less decided that it will be the VRS replacement so a new model will be great and save me from having two cars in a row that look basically the same.
I'm sure they're not KIWI, and neither do Subaru (Outback) or Volvo (XC70) but they sell in reasonable numbers here (especially the Outback) and I see a few Audi A6 Allroads driving around (and I'm sure to see more as they're finally bringing the A4 Allroad here). It's a small niche but I'm sure the costs of raising the suspension of a Superb 4x4, adding some plastic bumpers and Scout badges could easily be recouped. VW seems to think it's worthwhile in launching the Passat Alltrack.
Also, I doubt Skoda will sell any 7-seat car unless it's their version of the SEAT Albraham/VW Sharan or a 7-seat SUV (rumoured to be the Yeti+) and the next Octavia Scout will be Scout5 and Superb Scout Scout7 (that is, if they're produced), regardless of seating capacity.

You're so welcome KIWI, you're the best. Always nice. Buddy I was simply replying to what you said and if it was sarcasm in the first place then you shouldn't have bothered; sarcasm never bodes well on the internet.
Damn right it is. In all honesty, unless Volkswagen Australia stop being total bleeps, Skoda doesn't have much of a future here anyway, at least in the short term. And even if they did have a relevant product to our market (new Octavia), I'm sure they'd stuff it up somehow through stupid pricing, a lack of advertising or another reason; we've all seen it before. I'm honestly surprised that VW Aus brought Skoda out here and I'm surprised all of us on here even bought our cars.

We've had 4x 7 seaters. 2x Avensis Verso, Captiva & Outlander. None of them were big enough to fit 7 + luggage. 3rd is strictly short trips/emergency/weekend kids hauler.
I can kind-of see what Skoda might be doing. Our recent trip West of the divide to the Turon River which was a 13km dirt road that could have been traversed by a Getz found dozens of Outbacks & Foresters at the destination. They outnumbered anything else 4-1.
Then again, SUVs are a dime a dozen these days, so it will be a hard market to make inroads on.
If nothing else, Skoda is consistent in keeping us bamboozled by their actions.

The XVs are sure taking off as well, I see them all the time, and have a friend that got one very quickly after seeing it in the flesh. They have bugger all boot space, but the Outbacks are just getting too pricey and close in range to SUVs with better space, ie Santa Fes, Sorrentos, Captivas, Territories, Klugers etc.
I wonder if the Scout 7 is actually a Toureg equivalent and the Superb Scout is a red herring...
