sat nav freezing "please wait" well I am still "waiting"

    Hi Guys
I did the search but nothing came up
When I set out on a trip and press the nav button on the columbus and then enter a destination it then says "please wait"
Well I waited till i got to my destination!!!! Its a total PITA. Turn the car off and restart the car and then it of course worked. Has anybody had similar probs and wtf do you do to fix it?
    Many thanks

Could be time for some updated maps and firmware, pending dealership diagnosis.

    Hey and thanks
Well i have to go in and get the towbar blues unblued (as in reversing sensor not disabling and headlight fault) so will hit them up for that.
Minor annoyances to be sure but annoying nonetheless

Whenever I select "POI" on the Nav, the entire unit freezes. I have to turn the car off and let it sit for 5min to turn the Nav unit off. -.-'

Don't forget you can reboot it on the go by holding down the rew, fwd and "i" buttons next to the CD slot.

    Hi
I tried every 2 fingered salute on the day figuring it could be rebooted somewhere but I havent read the manual to the extent that you have.. So thanks for the reboot sequence, i truly appreciate it. Its a bummer that the sat nav doesnt give your actual speed and it also doesnt do speed cameras etc so I will have to get out the trusty Navig8tor which does.
Anyway the dealer is meant o give me a 6 cd stacker and hasnt come to the party yet so maybe that unit will be a better one.
Tis a pity the satnav is so lame as it detracts from the overall loveliness of the car.. That and the errant towbar issues.. those darn dealers!!!

I've been waiting for the day when Tomtom and Garmin etc just approach dealers and say we'll handle this as you are all crap. That way maps won't have to be customised for every unit, they just need a universal platform. I know Mazda have tomtoms in the CX-5 but suspect without looking at them, that its a hardwired install unit.

For what dealers charge for these (at least Skoda throw them in) and how severely out of date and limited they are, they are usually not worth even using the GPS side of them. The rest of the features are fine though. I'd almost prefer them to start providing a port where your Android or iPhone device just displays on there as that would solve a lot of issues.

With the latest version of the software, it is possible to add the safety cameras and your own POI, although unlike TomTom, it doesn't chime or anything like that.
