    RS door card removal

Hi guys, is the following link correct in explaining removing door cards for a MY13 RS wagon? Also the link mentions that the door clips are easily broken, should I just ask a Skoda dealer for them or can I source them somewhere else quickly/cheaply?

How to remove Octy II door cards / speaker sizes - In Car Entertainment (ICE) and Security - BRISKODA.net - The Skoda Forum and Community

    Thanks.

When they talk about tear rivets I think we refer to them as Peel rivets. They are the ones that split and fold back against the panel as you pull them tight Give a better seal than ordinary ones

I shouldn't have to say it, but I will anyhow. Remove any part of the trim with a 6" metal rule, and you'll probably be wishing you'd spent a few dollars on a nylon trim removal tool set.

    Seconded.
Also, trim removal tools are a lot quicker... I.E. removing the trim of the tailgate on the wagon is a 10min job with a flathead screwdriver - 30sec with the tools!!

You guys are scaring me! I'm asking these questions because I am getting the windows re-tinted by another tint guy. He will be removing door cards and doing it properly, I am just nervous that trim will get scratched/door clips broken etc (I am a worry wort) all for the sake of a nice looking tint job. I hope he has the right tools for this and won't butcher my nice interior. Maybe I should've paid the extra $200-$300 for the dealer to do it.

The dealer does not do it - they hire a mobile guy to drop in and do it - and then charge you double to make it worth their while

Relax - the tinting guys do heaps of cars every week - they are generally very experienced and will do a much better job than you could

Which seems to me to be the reason you're needing to get the window tinting redone in the first place mate.

Pros don't use 6" metal rulers or screwdrivers to remove trim panels, and neither should anyone else. Businesses that make a habit of damaging people's cars generally don't stay in business all that long.

    Dont be scared of it!
The door cards come off quite easily with fingernails and a bit of force.
The hardest part on mine was unclipping the power window switches on the drivers side to get to the screws underneath.
Also with that dont be scared of using a bit of force. The plastic is quite sturdy.

Thanks guys, feel a little better now....current tint is being removed tomorrow and will ring someone else tomorrow for the re-tint. Fingers crossed all will go well. Once this saga is over it'll be time to look into some springs or perhaps something from SuperSkoda
