RS asked for oil last night

Weird, because after 6400km I didnt think the car would have used THAT much oil.

Got a warning on the MFD asking to check oil. Which I did. It was on the low indicator!

I only had 1L of Castrol Edge, so I chucked it in. Let it settle, started car, let run, stopped car. Back on full indicator.

I knew my fiat drank oil like its cheap, but the Skoda too?? Anyone else have a bit of oil consumption?

Also, the MFD does colour! I thought it was only white.

TSI or TDI? Our T FSI (pre-facelift) RS uses a surprising amount of oil too and so does my brother's MkV GTI.

1L in the first 6400km is expected. What's more imortant is how long it takes to use the next 1L.

You haven't checked any of your fluids since new?

its "known feature" of the vag tsi engines.
been discussed a number of times over at briskoda.

its normal, and should b nothing to worry about.

having said that, mine was fine till the 1st 15k service.

Hey same thing happened to me on Sunday (7500kms 2.0TSI). Called the dealership who advised to top up with Castrol Edge 5w-30 or bring it by for them to do it. I haven't had to add oil to a car since I owned a Dataun 200b in the 90's!

It's the price you pay for fuel economy. VW engines aren't unique in having the problem. Gen4 Subarus (both H6 & H4) had oil burning issues for quite a while - the fix was various levels of engine rebuild. Early LS1 V8s had oil burning issues - the fix was to recalibrate the dipstick. Early alloy V8 BMWs had oil burning issues - the fix was a new block..... the list goes on.

My Mk6 GTI is the same.
I've had it for 13,000kms, and have topped up the oil twice on it.
Once, I took it to the dealer and they did it, the other time I just got 1L of VW approved oil and did it myself.

OK then i wont worry about it

no, i didnt check all the fluids. ive only owned japanese cars and they dont use oil. i will now though lol

seems to be standard practice on a euro, however.

ill just keep a bottle of 5w30 hanging around for top ups.
