    Rear seat cup holders

To me this seems a strange omission on Skodas part. The Octavia RS has no cup holders at all for the back seat passengers -- I assume that this is the case of all Octavias but I haven't checked. However it does have a centre flip down 'armrest' with a sort of storage tray. This looks very similar to one I saw in the back of a Passat - `cept the Passat had 2 cup holders in the front of the tray.

I'm wondering if the tray + cup holder bit can be transplanted to the Skoda.

... or, if there's any other viable alternatives.

apparently, according to the skoda user manual for the octavia, there is a rear cup holder - directly above the storage opening.
    i certainly don't have it!

i've seen 1 or 2 threads over in the UK forum, where they've bought this part, and retrofitted it. was alot of work, for such little purpose.

I've often wondered about this and couldn't agree more, what a ridiculous oversight to not include rear cupholders, especially as the Octavia is a family car. I'm pretty sure in saying that the Superb unit can be transferred to the Octavia.

Hmmm - I DO remember a pop-out ash tray that looked a bit deep

I'm glad there aren't any. Cup holders are an abomination and the person who first installed them in a motor vehicle should be struck down and forced to drive a Ford Pinto for eternity!
If the journey is so long that refreshments are required then drivers should stop for those refreshments and let them and their passengers be truly refreshed.

And over 90% of all car journeys have front seat occupants only.
I saw four other Skodas within 5 minutes this morning (three Octavias and one Superb wagon) and all were single occupant vehicles. At least I had a front seat passenger in mine.

Fantastic story KIWI, I'm glad you saw such a high quantity of Skodas! But by your 90% theory, does that mean that no manufacturer should include rear seats too?

In reality if people were truly honest about their driving yes manufacturers should offer small one one two seat cars and they should sell. The problem is the testosterone levels of the average car buyer who lives in the fantasy world that one day he will need four extra seats to take four gorgeous blondes back to his place for a fivesome and therefore he must have a car suitable for that day just in case.
