    Rear Bumper Damaged

Wife was run in to by a P plater when she was stopped at the lights. GET OFF YOUR !@#$*% PHONE. *sigh* Anyway...

The rear bumper on our '13 Octavia Wagoon is cracked and I can see that will need to be replaced and the reverse sensors some close examination. My question is, what else should we be wary of in a nose/tale accident that we should talk to the panel beater about (if anything)? How robust is the VW chassis to these sorts of bumps?

Also any suggested VW Group repairers in Melbourne SE?

    Cheers!

Any decent place will know what they are doing. It does not sound too severe from your description of a cracked bumper.
Just ensure the place is clean and modern, who is your insurer do you have choice of repairer ?

Yeah not too severe. Just the plastic is all cracked. We are with Allianz and they said we can get it repaired anywhere but they said it's just more hassle for them and us if it's not an already approved one because they then need to send somebody out to visually inspect or something.

Claim against the other drivers insurance other wise you could loose your NCB.

    Just claim it.

Also, Octavia's are notoriously tough against hits.
Mine's hit a roo and got off without a scratch (can't say the same for the roo) and a Subaru killed itself by hitting the rear of mine (before I had a tow bar fitted) and neither hit has caused me to go see a panel beater.
