I certainly have never babied a motor on run in.. I have a mechanical engineering background and know why manufactures say the blanket claims of taking it easy, its to build up carbon on the piston rings to make the engine a tiny bit quieter.. Especially diesel..
But seriously.. give it a good kick mate, if you want your performance motor to perform ( especially turbo motors) you need to keep the carbon out of your exhaust, if you dont get the flow rate up you will only fill up the exhaust with carbon which it will struggle to clear when you do boot it.
On the noises side.. don't be affraid to go straight back to the dealer.
