Purchase price of a Skoda vRS Octavia Wagon MY11

    Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a Skoda vrs wagon here in Sydney and I was wondering what people have paid for it. I would ideally like to take advantage of the 2.8% finance which is currently available.

I'm looking at the DSG TDI model MY 11, Colour doesn't really bother me. Any tips when buying would be great guys as I don't buy cars often especially Skodas.. I'm also interested in where they brought it from, the dealers name and what extras they may have added to it.

    Thanks Again

    Hi there,

Bought mine from Nepean Motor Group at Penrith in early 2010, RS wagon, petrol, DSG, no other options, paid $41k on road... very happy with the car, pure driving pleasure every time I get behind the wheel, plenty of space and pace!

I'd expect you'll pay a little more for a diesel but as a price guide I'd suggest you'd be happy to get into a RS diesel wagon with DSG for around that $41-43k on-road mark.

I popped into the new Rockdale dealership on the weekend to check out the Fabia Monte Carlo

They had at least one DSG equipped wagon there in the showroom. I assume they would be keen to deal as they are only a new dealership

I'm in Melbourne so the on-roads are a little different, but I'll list them here. VW, Audi and Skoda will give you a variable level of discount if you can prove the slightest association with a recognised company or association, of which there are many, and the bigger organisation it is the better. They call it a 'fleet discount', but it has nothing to do with actual car fleets.

I picked up an early MY12 Octavia RS, TSI, DSG, wagon, black, with sunroof, front parking sensors, privacy glass, xenons, and MDI/bluetooth being standard in MY12's (so basically 'with the lot'), for $45.5k (incl GST) drive away. Rego is $760, D/D is $1360 and Stamp duty $1095, (plus GST to all of the on-roads)

I bought my VRS wagon TDI manual for $40k drive away with full tint and towbar.

I purchased it in Sept 09 from Steve Jarvin Motors Ashfield, who were taken over by Rick Damelian, who were taken over by.......?

Awesome thanks for the reply guys.

I personally don't know much cars in general but the reviews for the skoda are great. All my friends think I'm nuts for buying it but I've made the decision to buy it as the reviews advise its dependable and great value for money.

I just need a car that's comfortable as I will be required to drive a lot for work between Canberra and Sydney, I also have a Labrador which I take to the beach a lot so the boot space will come in handy. I personally haven't driven the VRS. But I drove the model below it and liked it a lot. I just like the sporty look of the vrs plus I was told its quicker. I also need the fuel efficiency of the diesel with the amount of kms I will be doing.

Only concern is resale so I'm trying to work the price down as much as possible, I have been quoted for a vrs wagon, 125 TDI DSG for 41K with mats and MDI.....so not sure if this is a good price. Other dealers are saying that the dealer is full of it so I wont know until I go and get it.

Also the dealer mentioned that blue tooth would be another $400 is that correct?

They might have to put bluetooth in so $400 would be about right, MY12 all have it but charge for it anyway. Mats are std in the RS so don't count them. That price is about right, so not sure what the other dealers issue is.

When they have the usual free on road, I got a RS MY08 hatch in Oct 08 with sunroof and front parking sensors for 37k all up and also got an extra 2k chucked in from VAG for my tradein when that looked lower than what I needed. I don't know if deals like that still exist though as that was them trying to get as many out there and the world economy had just crashed leaving dealers the world over with lots of stock.

i ordered an RS last week down here.

the catch with the 2.8% is that it pretty much has to be a car that's either already landed or on a boat about to land, so you can't be all that picky with specs... vw finance won't give corporate discount AND the 2.8%, it's either or (although they can still take some coin off).

I think all of us here have been told at some point or another, by one or several friends, that we must be bonkers for buying a Skoda!!

Of course these comments come from people who know SFA about the brand's current products, and/or who only remember the brand's 1980s junk heaps prior to be taken over by Volkswagen in the early 90s.

I bought my RS wagon on the strength of European sales, positive reviews by motoring press in various coutnries and a littany of awards the brand had received, and I really couldn't be happier entering my 18 month of ownership with about 20,000kms on the clock.

Customer service by certain dealers and Skoda Head Office in particular seems a concern based on some threads in this forum, so I guess if you happen to get one of the few cars with any major issues then you might run up against a 'wall of silence' or prolonged frustration, but I suppose that can happen with a lot of brands... and let's just hope that's not the case with your purchase!!

I'm currently in the market for a wagon to supplement the GTI. We have a baby on the way and a large dog we'd like to ferry around at the same time. The pricing of the Mazda 6 diesel wagon currently leaves the Skoda Octavia for dead. The Mazda in diesel wagon form has:

    Leather trim
    Parking sensors front and rear
    Bluetooth
    5.9L / 100km combined fuel cycle
    0-100kmh is 8.5s
Electric driver's seat with 3-way memory
    Driveaway price of $36490

To get identical performance and fuel economy, I'd be looking at a vRS diesel manual for $46285 - $10000 more!
You do get pretty much everything the Mazda gets plus pretty go-fast looking bits and pieces, plus Sat Nav. But if the unit is anything like the RNS510, then I don't really want it - the maps are awfully outdated even from new and cost a bomb to upgrade. I'll stick to the TomTom thanks.

Any further arguments for the Skoda? One thing I have noted is that Mazda have 6 monthly service intervals, but they are cheaper. The Skoda interior is a nicer place to be, but 10 grand better? Hard to justify at this stage.....
