when did u put the original order in?

i'm waiting for 6 weeks from order date (mid-june) before i start hassling my dealer for the vin number - to make sure its being acknowledged at the factory.
Good advise for all young players - my problem was i left it all in the hands of the lease company and thought everything was in hand - how foolish was i.

    Thanks RSOK
New dealer has received the new order today and has confirmed this by calling me late this afternoon. Cant wait to be smiling from ear to ear but it will nearly be christmas before i get it. Looking forward to the distant memories......

I asked for the VIN about a week later per the advice of many on this forum and 'tracked it' using the shipping company site... lo and behold, the car they said they had coming into stock was actually a pre-FL model that had landed in Aus 12 months ago!!

I got up the dealer real quick, I certainly didn't hold back I tell you!! I was pretty p'sd off!! They said it was an error by their 'stock controller', which wasn't really a great endorsement for their ability to process a customer's order... to their credit they admitted their error immediately and resolved the situation promptly, allocated me a car on the next shipload which was already on its way... turned out to be about a 4 week delay from the original delivery date, so no biggie.

I've been very satisfied with their customer service before and since, but still, had I not made the VIN enquiry myself nd done my own checking, I would have faced a situation exactly like yours, with possibly months of delay as a result I dare say.

so yes... it's not unheard of... and I'm sorry to hear it's happened to you, it's a dealer screw up but please don't think badly of the car... the RS is most definitely worth the wait! A scintillating drive! Once you're behind the wheel and grinning from ear to ear, all this will be a distant memory....

The whole process started in late March, obtained quote from vendor through the lease company and then it all went down hill from then.
the new delivery date is early December. And i noticed on the vRS register thread you have nearly the exact same spec as me. I take it you have yours now ! ! !

from march!?!? - man, that's an epic fail there by the lease company.
i'd b asking to cars for that failure!! lol

so u got the same specs as me too? sweet sprint yellow? woOot
no no no.....haven't got it yet. i placed the order with the dealer on jun 12th. dealer placed the order with the factory on jun 15th.
was adivsed by the dealer, that i'm looking at delivery for the end of october!
asked the dealer last week if they had any updates - it was "nothing yet".

however with all these horror delivery time stories & the 3-week summer shutdown (happens every year in july) at the factory, i won't b surprised if this gets pushed out further!!
why does buying a car have to b so painful!!! arrrgghhhhhh

The MY11 may actually turn out to be 2011 based on that as the order (have sighted a copy of it this time) said December 7.
