Pre-FL and FL RS - Interior Differences

So I've heard there is a difference but so far haven't been able to track down a pre-FL Octavia RS to look at in person. I sat in a 2011 RS wagon last week and loved the interior but curious as to what the differences are.

Can any of you guys who have maybe owned both enlighten me?

Take a look at the dash, air con. and radio controls on a Fabia, that is more or less what you get with a superseceded Octavia . No touch screeen etc.

That pre FL shot looks like one of the in between models (mid 2009) that had the new dash. Looking at the seats they are the FL seats as well as the FL centre arm rest. I would not use that as an example of the pre facelift interior.

It is a pre-FL, it just has the Columbus sat-nav. The seats are identical, and so is the armrest (bar the noise the pre-FL makes when you raise it).

Sir_camel, the real differences are new dials, a new steering wheel (with audio controls and paddles for DSG models), the newer range of Skoda audio systems (Audience vs touch-screen Bolero and a year later touch-screen Columbus sat-nav), new gearknob, the newer VW Group dual-zone HVAC controls, the hazard lights button went from red to black, the trim was different (as you can see above, the silver trim on the dash was extended to around the gearbox in the FL model, and the trim itself was different, instead of just silver it was more realistic aluminium) and for trainspotters, the dash plastics were a little bit softer. You also had the option of full-leather and for a brief time heated seats weren't standard like they were on the pre-FL model, but are now again and pre-FL models also had a very good alarm as standard.

Thanks guys for helpful responses. Do all the different versions of stereos have an aux in lead in the glovebox?

The Aux in is in the centre console under the arm rest. In the glove box is the MDI interface if its fitted.

My Ocy RS is a pre FL built in March 2009 and it has the FL interior and the larger exterior mirrors. The only difference I can see between my interior and FL's is the A/C recirculate button has the letter A on it on the FL's and mine doesn't.

Happy to post a photo on the forum but I don't have a website where I can host the pix.

I use a private folder on Facebook to host photos.

Also - My gear knob is closer to the Pre-FL pic than the FL pic, my hazard warning lights button is red.

Also - the dual zone climate control unit is called a Climatronic.
