    2008 RS TDI COMBI DSG

    Highway: Average: 5.96L/100km ( Best: 5.57L/100km Worst: 6.22L/100km ) Highway only distance: 2845km (20%)
    Urban: Average: 6.63L/100km ( Best: 6.13L/100km Worst: 7.08L/100km ) Urban only distance: 8035km (57%)
Overall: Average: 6.42L/100km; Total distance 14,083km

    Notes:
Best and worst figures refer to best/worst full tank fill up.
Most highway driving between Canberra and the coast, so a lot of hilly terrain.

A couple of points worth noting:

If you want to get and/or contribute to data on these vehicles, head on over to http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ where you can search for figures by specific vehicle type, or better still register to enter your fuel data and contribute to the world wide database.

I've started keeping track of the disrepancy between what the MFD says and what I actually put in at particular service stations. I notice that there is quite a variation. With one servo the disrepancy is sometimes as high at 8% and averages at 5% (in their favour... ), whereas at two other servos I use regularly the disrepancy averages around 1%. Looking back at the data for my previous (petrol) vehicle I notice the same thing , although the disrepancy was smaller. Needless to say I avoid that servo now.

Started on a long trip today - Melbourne to Qld and back over the next couple of weeks.

1st fill: Shell V-power Melb to Gundagai, 7.3l/100km at an average speed 106km/hr.Note this is on the freeway posted at 110km/hr.
2nd fill: Caltex vortex 98, Gundagai to Sydney so far 7.4l/100km, av speed 100km/hr.

I was generally travelling just above the posted speed limit as determined by my sat nav. Very few cars passsed me, but a notable excetion was a Vic highway patrol car which cruised past me fairly quickly with my satnav showing 113km/hr. Wish I had a camera to catch this. I thought they had to obey the limits if they weren't on a chase?

One other thing, my tyre pressure warning came on not long after the rain started. A check found no reduced tyre pressure. Could it be the cooling of the tyres and slight reduction in pressure due to the wet road?

Took the Octavia past 1000km on the one tank about a month ago. It was during the holidays when I wasn't doing any short trips. Fuel light was on and it was a bit scary.

At the moment I'm averaging 6l/100km

My car has just passed it's 5000km birthday so I gave it some fuel as a present.

    vRS, TDI, Manual

    Distance travelled 5033 km
    Average consumption since new - 6.7 l/100km
    Best - 6.431 l/100km
    Worst - 7.115 l/100km

This thing is saving me over $20 per week in fuel compared to my last car and I'm currently travelling more distance per week than I normally do.

2006 Polo GTI. 46,000 k'm's. APR V2 Chip and other goodies.

Generally average about 12 L/100km.Yes I said 12. Some days having a bit of fun it gets up to 18 L/100km... and that's my average reading, not current reading.

Just did my first longer trip in my Octy RS TSI DSG Wagon. Loaded up with wife, dog, surfboard, luggage etc did a fairly spirited drive along the Great Ocean Road to Lorne then the back way to Geelong which involves some very nice twists and turns. Then freeway back to Melbourne. Averaged 7.4L/100km which blew me away. With only 1500km on the clock I assume the efficiency will further improve with more k's but that figure I thought was impressive.

Good good When I get mine, I'll be quite happy with 6-7 cruising on the highway.

I've just clocked 5,000 on my RS wagon (TSI/DSG/facelift) - would have averaged 10-11l/100ks - most of my trips are short urban trips though (ie sub 15min/10k)

Just went over 6,000kms, and averaging 10.5 L/100km.

Not as brilliant as I was expecting, but mainly due to stop / start city driving. That, and having a bit of fun

I averaged around 10L for quite a while in similar conditions, since the 15k service, its more often around 9L now. I also took it for a long drive down south and then over to Lorne which helped a lot.

I found our 6 at similar kms suddenly got more efficient after the first yearly service and a big trip to Canberra.
