No, never seen it, what is stopping it closing, there isn't that much to it?
Hi all,
My petrol cap flap no longer closes flat against the body. I've pushed and prodded but nothing seems to make it close flush.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it without going back to the dealer?
Thanks in advance
No, never seen it, what is stopping it closing, there isn't that much to it?
the closing isn't being fouled by the plastic cable which attaches to the filler cap is it?
Nope unfortunately not. I have tried moving that plastic cable around and it doesn't make any difference.
I think the problem is with the rubber covered clicky thing (I don't know how to describe it) located about where the locking pin comes out.
mmmm I think a trip to the dealer will be in order...
Thanks
I had that & it was the plastic cable. It has to loop under.
But apparently yours isn't the plastic cable. Sorry i can't help

Thanks Brad,
It's booked into the dealer for this Thursday so hopefully they can work out the problem. If it is the plastic cable as you and Brycem suggest I will kick myself as I have spent some time playing with it trying different ways.
I have a few other issues with it (ECU warning lights, exhaust rattle, clock keeps resetting) as well so it's probably good to get them sorted in one go.
Very frustrating to have any problems with new cars though...
unusual for this marque.
What model do you have?
Octavia vRS petrol DSG wagon complied in 12/09.
It's got less than 6000 kms which is a sad indication of how little use it gets
The dealer verdict is in.
As I suspected there is a part broken on the petrol flap and needs to be replaced under warranty.
I had them look some other issues as well and it turns out I have a faulty ignition key module as well.
So the wait for parts begins... I hope these parts get here quicker than it took to get an accessory boot dish (7 weeks).
