For those of you who have had their brand new car done, did you just get the paint protection, or did you get paint correction too?

Local guy is suggesting I should get paint correction. I don't see the need as car will be going straight from dealer, unwashed.

I would get the paint correction done. It can get rid of some of that orange peel look to the paint. When i picked my car up it had some very light start of swirls already

The car is always going to pick up some light marks here and there. It shouldn't be a fixed charge or package though so it should be as simple as saying 'correct any paint as required then apply Opticoat' ie. it should be charged based on time spent.

Even new cars often have rail dust etc (mine sure did) so even a brand new car needs proper prep/minor corrections before applying any paint protection IMO.

I am also surprised that some applicators will come and apply Opticoat onsite. My guy wouldn't.. he will only do it in his own shed and the car has to sit there for (at minimum) 12 hours to cure before it leaves. To me that makes sense - there are too many variables in doing it at a customer's premises for my liking.

    Thanks.
Just not keen to fork out 1k for correction and protection when I know there maybe a only few small marks. Might have to call a few others around nsw/Sydney.

Always good to check, but best to run with someone with a good recommendation.

At the end of the day the cost will boil down to their desired profit margin and overheads. For once us Adelaide guys get to save.

$1k seems a lot. Mine was only a bit over half that, paint protection only (no wheels/interior).

The amount of correction required depends how badly the dealership butchers your cars paint in pre-delivery, which is more often than not quite badly. Plus, "new" cars are covered in glaze (think icing a cake for cars) that hides all the damage until you have washed it a few times. So normally some level of correction is required, a good detailer will tailor a package to suit your car.

Unfortunalty, I dont think this detaier will just do 'correct any paint as required'. Its all or nothing.
And yes, we get over chared for everything here in Canberra. Mind you, the quote is for full correction AND protection.

This is why I have asked the dealer that the car to be delivered un-detailed. I guess I will be just dealing with the 'icing' though.

Seems like I am going to have to shop around. Thanks for the advice.
