Overview of How To Change Vw Oil - Changing Vw Oil
With the aid of google I found this for you. Only looked because I guess your surname is Walsh, like me.

Does anyone know the correct size socket required to remove the oil filter housing on my 2.0 RS? It's a BWA engine code.
Without removing the shroud and checking if I have the correct socket in my toolbox.
I have the plugs, filter and oil ready to go. Just looking to save an extra trip under the car!
Thanks

Hi Gavin,
Yes it is Walsh. 👍🏼
I should have gone to Google too - I always head to this forum to check things first, as I prefer discussing with people who know 'apparently' know what they're talking about!
This link gives a pretty thorough step-by-step 'how to'. Thanks Mr Walsh.

TBH even with 24 years of owning VW group vehicles, I still google stuff all the time. There's often bad info on forums. Plus you get 300000 answer in .0346 seconds LOL
Hope the oil change goes smoothly and watch that you don't muscle the filter housing on too tight.

Thanks Gavin,
I've now discovered it requires a 36mm, which I don't have..
Don't suppose there is anyone local to Five Dock with a 36mm socket/filter removal tool who would like to lend it to me, please?
I'll be buying my own one soon.
Thanks.
