I would, as I'm Planning on doing 6 monthly oil changes.
I see your point tho, but the Oil is 12 months old, so Yes it should.
Get them to do it for free tho...
In the Ideal world, they should of replaced with new oil/filter and oil alarm reset....
Hi All
so I have had my RS wagon from new for about 6 months now with 4500klm on the clock ( second car so dont drive much). The oil change reminder has come up on the screen telling me to change in 28 days. Now I know the car I bought new sat on the lot for a while so may be the date time stamp was from when it was delivered to the dealer. My question is , should I change the oil at the dealer next month as per the reminder or wait till mid year, which is inline with the twelve months of driving that i have had it? Thoughts

Yep, change it. My advice, grab the oil from a retailer for a much cheaper price along with an OEM filter.

Before you go changing it yourself. Check with the dealership as it may effect warranty if it's on there system as needing its 12 month service.
Was it A demo or registered on the lot. This may be why. If it was unregistered and brand new it should have been serviced before delivery and had a full 12 months before next service.
Yep definitely check with the dealer, odd that happened really.
It wasnt a demo and it was registered the day I picked it up. I do remember thedealer telling me it had to have a preservice delivery . I will touch base with them and see what they say.

To be honest, when you take delivery of these cars, its months since the oil was added to driving it out. Even from factory to delivery, mine was built this week in 2016 and I didn't get it until 20th April. But that doesn't mean the oil gets changed now by any service schedule. My prior 2008 car I bought in Nove 2008. They had it for a month before I bought it. Was built in April so I asked April the next year if it needs the oil done then and the answer was no. 8 years on and that car is still running fine, no issues or gunk. The oil they use is the same for the variable service which goes longer than 12mths anyway in life so really should be OK. I'd say most of the time the preservice just involved resetting the service reminder to be a year on from delivery, and not based on how long oil and fluids sat there.
Ok so went backto the dealer today and they said that i dont need the oil changed. They tookthe car into the workshop and reset the service interval setting to 365 days , it was set on 6 monthly. Told me to come back in June, which will be 12 months on from when I bought the car.
Spoke to the sales guy who sold me the car and told him I was still very happy with the car. I asked him haw Skoda where selling in WA and he said not that well. He also told me that Skoda in Mandurah are going to move into a new building next door to VW. May be a new show room will help.
