Octavia Window Deflectors

On the weekend, I noticed a real annoying problem with my RS.

It was a beautiful day and I was on my favourite pieces of hillclimb tarmac. The road was clear, I had the window down and was hoping to enjoy a blat of epic proportions.

It should have been the perfect afternoon. Unfortunately, my day was ruined by the rush of air thundering into my right ear. The skoda's B pillar and my seating position perfectly channels hundreds of litres of air into my ear drum.

Has anyone fitted a window deflector on their Octavia? Preferably a slim line one? There appears to be a genuine one available. Anyone have it? How well does it work?

I doubt a slim line will really help much.
It will only allow you to crack the window open a very small amount.

Most of the car's are designed for aerodynamic efficiency, not for the ability to hear the engine/road when you have hte windows open, hence the wind noise is probably going to be quite bad.

I've noticed the same problem with the sunroof, where you get the drone sound of a helicopter and the only way to avoid it is winding down the back windows

JAZ that happens with all sunroofs, some have the comfort position to avoid it, but I find opening the sunroof all the way is better. Generally what you are describing occurs at certain speeds, and the same thing has happened for years with rear windows opened when the front ones weren't...Its called buffeting..if you want to search on it.

I can drive at all speeds (up to the speed limit of 110kmh of course) in my Superb and there is no noticable noise or vibration from my sunroof whatsoever. Unlike the Outback I used to drive.

As far as windows go, yup, you get the beat vibration but it's been my experience that you get that with most new cars these days.

SuperSkoda.com sells OEM ones as well as after market ones. Have not bought them though...

I had the buffeting issue in my GTI sunroof too. Couldn't open the rear windows because there were none that could open. That said, it is basically identical to the S3 and the Skoda, so I would have expected the same issue, so I didn't get 1. The sunroof on the 135 was pretty solid though, even with the windows up and the roof open, it was still pretty good.

Anyone know if the wind deflectors help though? For me its to do with the seating position, its right in my ear line. I can move the seat forward and its not too bad.
