    Octavia vRS standard Alarm system

    Hi all,

So it just occurred to me, the alarm system is an option and isn't standard. Looking through the brochure, it seems that the only security besides central locking is the engine emboliser. Is this right or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance!

Its an option on its own or included as part of the tech pack. Imobiliser is standard.

Does that mean if someone break into the standard RS, it will not make noise?

    Thats right.

The alarm upgrade comes with ultrasonic interior sensors that detect movement within the cabin.

Previously it was standard in the MkII RS, then was taken away when they included the Columbus and I lost track if it came back again later. I think it didn't and the heated seats returned. I didn't think it was part of the tech pack for the MkIII but it's been a while since I checked. It included an interior alarm when it is fitted, and from experience if you leave the sunroof tilted on a gusty day it sets it off as the wind goes right past the infrared sensor.

Last time I went through the configurator on Skoda's website the alarm was an option, but I think when the tech pack was selected the alarm option became greyed out (cant get into the car configurator to re-check).

According to the price and equipment guide it lists the tech pack as:

"Tech Pack (with Rear View Camera)

    > Bi-Xenon Lights incl LED Daytime Running Lights
    > Automatic Parking Assist (Front parking sensors standard for Elegance and RS)
    > Adaptive Cruise Control incl. Front Assist with City Emergency Brake
    > Advanced keyless entry including smart start (KESSY) and Alarm
    > Premium German Soundsystem CANTON (10 speakers, digital equalizer)
    > Light Assist and Rain Sensing Wipers
    > Driving Mode Selection
    > Rear LED lights
    > Black frosted glass design of fog lights with corner function
    > Inside rear view mirror with humidity sensor
    > Rear View Camera"

so to me it appears as if the tech pack has it included and is an option to choose without the tech pack. but if my interpretation is wrong I'll stand corrected.

When I receive my RS I will be able to confirm or deny the presence of any alarm.

I didn't even know alarm can be an option, as I thought it was always one of the standard feature on cars with remote lock/unlock. I am obviously very wrong.

No tech pack = optional alarm can be selected
With tech pack = option is greyed out as it is part of the tech pack

You probably won't unless you set it off somehow. One of my cars makes no sound whatsoever that has an alarm. The Skoda does a chirp but so do other ones.

I got the alarm as an option without the tech pack. In addition to the door and hood opening sensors and an impact sensor, it also has a tilt alarm and the interior motion sensors (interior motion sensors can be disabled, for pets, etc). The tilt sensor kept getting set off while on the ferry to Kangaroo Island. The sound is like a loud beeping and the usual flashing lights
